Disappointed

I am an avid Lego fan and I just got back into builidng sets as an adult. I’ve built and enjoyed the Lego architecture collection including the Paris and London sets.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this New York City one though. I was missing crucial parts that had to be ordered separately (thank you to Lego for being so quick and accommodating to send the missing pieces!)
Then, when I continued to build, I was not able to complete the freedom tower because the pieces did not fit together according to the instructions. I tried everything I could think of including trying to see if I could use other pieces in different ways with no luck.
I wouldn’t recommend this set, but I’m still a huge Lego fan and will continue to purchase in the future, I just wish I could have used this money to purchase something else.

Great, but geographically not accurate

Received this set as a gift and was really excited to build this. I have lived in NYC most of my life, so needless to say that I was a bit disappointed with the lack of attention to detail on the placement of the buildings. If you are going to put the statue of liberty surrounded by water then the next building should be one world trade, followed by the flat iron building, then Empire state building, then Chrysler building. I will have to rebuild this set in that order just so my OCD doesn’t spark up. Regardless, thank you for creating such an awesome set!

New York Cityscape

Build was fairly easy and the end result was a great conversation piece. My wife and I like to build with Lego to keep out brain and motor skills active. I would recommend this product for anyone.

This is one of the best LEGO Architecture sets you can find out there. It’s not too expensive, and although it’s pretty simple to build it looks great next to some other NYC stuff, whether it be canvas prints or the Empire State Building set from 2019. Either way this model features some of the most iconic skyscrapers in the country, possibly the world. The Statue of Liberty works well in the scale of the set, and doesn’t draw attention from the main buildings which is nice. The Empire State Building is roughly the same size as the standalone set from the beginning of the Architecture line, yet has the same look to it as the larger set from 2019. The Chrysler Building is another one that’s hard to capture the look of given its scale, but LEGO did their best and it fits in well with the model. Taking a break from the Supertall skyscrapers from Midtown, the Flatiron Building does a good job representing the real thing (which I’ve never seen without scaffolding covering it) given its scale. Finally, my personal favorite building in the model and the city, One World Trade Center is another where the scale LEGO built this in makes it so difficult to accurately represent, and I applaud LEGO for their efforts. I rated this as a 1 out of 5 in terms of play value because it’s literally not for play.

It's up to you

I liked half of this set. There were many interesting assembly twists. A plus that various buildings attach to the base in different ways. I am most pleased with the feel and appearance of the Empire State Building; it was fun to build. I would also rate the Flatiron as a success, though much simpler. What detracted from the set: The Statue of Liberty is actually in New Jersey, so having it as part of NY City is not a good choice. WTC 1 in the set is as unappealing as the actual building; I would assume any tourists who go here are there for a different reason than to see this monstrosity. The parts bags could have been packed with more thought- maybe sorted by building, to avoid having all the little blocks open at once.
Recommended as a component of a collection, ZERO play potential.

Enjoy it for what it is

Having recently built the Empire State Lego, the same building in this set is a comedown from that exquisit and beautiful set. If you have the opportunity to build both, definitely assemble the New York City group before starting the Empire State Building, as the latter is fantastic, while the New York City is merely OK. I bought it just for a fun evening diversion, and it met that goal completely; assembly created no problems. There was a single missing interior piece, and several extras. Overall, a one-session delight and fun-filled project.

Lovely set

I've been trying to get all of the architecture sets of cities that I've actually been to, and I was excited to see there was one for NYC. I had fun putting together this set and it was relatively easy once you can actually see the manual (this wasn't as difficult as some other sets since there aren't as many black pieces as other architecture sets). My only wish was that there would be a "mini" building detail as some of the other sets, such as Shibuya Crossing of Tokyo or Freemont street of Las Vegas. A tiny Times Square would have made this set absolutely perfect and fun and not as strictly structural as just the buildings and a tiny Statue of Liberty make it.
