I have a few electrical humidors, and this one is different because it is not a converted wine cooler but an actual humidor with a humidification unit installed inside. The support is efficient and caring.

This has been my primary humidor for several months now. Love how it holds so many cigars and keeps the humidity regulated. Also glad they got rid of the dividers from the shelves so there's more space.

The NewAir 840 is so loud that it is not usable

My NewAir 840 makes loud clicking and buzzing sounds making it unusable in my small apartment. It is impossible to sleep with it waking me up every time it cycles. I am extremely disappointed with the quality for the high price.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This humidor is awesome. Holds temp and humidity perfectly. Loaded up all my cigars right into it with no seasoning at all as it worked right away. Ran it for 24 hours empty prior to loading them in and that was it highly recommend this to any serious cigar smoker.

I wanted to love this unit. It seems well made but the humidity controls are way off. Stetting the unit to max humidity 75% yielded real humidity (verified hygrometers) of 62% or not enough to store my cigars. I worked with Newair hoping there was a way to reset the internal hygrometer but in 6 phone calls it never was revealed. They were aware of the issue so it must have been a bad batch. It happens. My beef with Newair is that when I tried to talk with anyone who knew about the product, I was told that they weren't available. The CS reps were nice but not knowledgable and as such were not helpful in the process. In the end, I sent the unit back (Keep the packaging) and was refunded. It's too bad because the unit is the perfect size for me.

If you live in a high humidity region, this is the humidor to get…period! Those thermo-electric humidors do not effectively remove humidity, even with beads or Boveda pack. With thermoelectrics, humidity eventually builds up has to go somewhere and eventually excess humidity over humidifies your cigars. I’ve experimented for several years and could never get any level of consistency. With this compressor based humidor, problem solved in just 2 days of cigars sitting in it. Cigars are near perfect and taste as they were intended to. Temp and humidity remain stable! Well built design. Only real issue is that the built in hygrometer reads high by 3-9% depending where you place your own hygrometers at for comparisons. If I set it at 72% humidity, my own calibrated gauges read 64-65% on avg and even lower on top shelf. This could be an issue if you live in dry climates and want your humidity closer to 70%. I like mine at 62-65%, so this works for me here in South Florida. With my own hygrometer, front portion of humidor reads 4-5% lower than if placed towards rear of humidor. Occasional gurgling noises from compressor, but not annoying at all. Lighting and drawers are awesome.
