As instructed, once arrived, I let it sit for 24hrs prior to turning it on. Once I did turn it on the next day, I spent the next 48hrs seasoning all the drawers via wiping them down with distilled water several times and running the unit on 75% humidity. Day 4, loaded all my sticks and I dropped the humidity level to 66% on the unit. I’ve noticed 4hrs in, all 3 of my calibrated hygrometers were reading 56% humidity. So, again I set the unit to max, 75% humidity and left it over night. Now all my hygrometers are reading 65/66%. Which is perfect, but there’s a 10% difference what the unit is reading and what the actual humidity is. Furthermore, the unit is constantly running. It’s turns off for about a minute and turns back on, as constantly trying to adjust temp or humidity. Not sure if the unit is faulty or they’re designed to work that way.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The NewAir 840 is a beautiful unit that appears very well built. I love the design, ability to control both temperature and humidity, and Spanish cedar drawers. There are very few drawbacks - 1) the unit makes different types of noises that, while not loud with other background noise, could be loud in a quieter room. 2) Also wish a 4th drawer (and maybe 5th) was included. 3) the distilled water fill line is difficult to see. Those 3 drawbacks, for me, are minor compared to the many benefits of the unit. Early days of ownership but so far so good and hopeful. #sweepstakes

Best NewAir Humidor Yet

I recently received this unit and have since seasoned it and started to store cigars. So far, so good. This thing is packed with features. The lighting throughout is a nice cosmetic touch, and the overall design is very sleek and attractive. I love the new built-in humidity system and redesigned control panel. I've used two other NewAir units in the past with great results, but this thing just feels more polished and complete than anything they've sold prior. I will be publishing an update via video review (CutLightSmoke on YouTube) in a few weeks once I've had time to fully evaluate functionality. It's nice to see a larger wineador in the NewAir family. Stay tuned for my full review!

Works great once calibrated.

I have had the 840 for several months now. At first the readings on both temp and humidity were off. Which I know will not be perfect out of box. Looked up how to calibrate. The calibration settings are in celsius only from what I can tell. Easy enough to figure out to fahrenheit.. Once all is set and tested with meters on each shelf and dialed in. It is perfect now to store and age what I want. It has about 300+ - cigars and working perfectly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Newair 840 humidor, should you buy one.

I purchased my unit about a year ago and it has been in use since then. When it arrived it was well packed and had no marks, scratches, dints on it. The Newair 840, looks better in person than on any of the adds well built with top quality parts. The cedar drawers slide in and out with ease and has an amazing aroma. Yes, the unit is a little on the costly side. However, if you're looking to purchase this until then you've been looking to step up your game. It's definitely something that isn't a need but it's a discussion piece to your collection. The only issue I've experience with the unit is a lack of humidity. The unit would not keep humidity over 62% when I set it all the way at max settings. I contacted Newair's customer service about the issue I was experiencing and there response was they would send me a new unit at no cost to me. This is how all customer service should operate when their is such a costly novelty item. I definitely will be a life long customer if they continue to have quality products and a wonderful customer service. Things I would like to see; Accessories for the unit, cedar drawers with a spacer system. Not the spacer that is fixed in place. It wouldn't cost much just a few notched out cuts for the spacer to be placed where the user would like to place them. Also an easier fill port for the water to go into it's just a little difficult to see. If Newair came out with this same setup that was a full-size cabinet humidor and if i had the extra funds to purchase one I would. The lighting display sets this unit apart from all the other out on the market today.

I love the sleek look of this humidor as well as how easy it is to set up and use. Very quiet, and love the smell of the cedar drawers. Very easy to use the slidable and adjustable trays. Wish the dividers were movable, but that is the only drawback that I saw. Everything else is great!
