I've used this packing tape to hold together very heavy boxes that were almost disintegrating. Book Fair Returns for a school. Weve also used it to reinforcethe covers of heavily used reference materials. I also use it for at home lamination of cards and art projects.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worse than regular tape

I’ve always thought that this brand was really good, but this packaging tape is worse than regular tape. It doesn’t stick to anything except on its own sticky side. It does however stick to regular printer paper. Just not cardboard or anything else. Don’t waste your money to buy this tape if you need to tape down your boxes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

SCOTCH BRAND PACKING TAPE SAVES THE DAY AT FED EX!

I use this tape at work ALL THE TIME & ITS GREAT. I am a pkg. Handler at one of the largest shipping companies in the world & if it wasn't for this tape, our delivery drivers would have terrible days because of companies who do not use this kind of tape and in the process off shipping their boxes start to break open , resulting in the contents getting lost of damaged in the process, which makes for unhappy delivery drivers as well as unhappy customers. No bueno when customers don't receive all they were expecting because of other ineffective tape used to close packages. Scotch brand packaging tape is the BEST!!! THANKS SCOTCH BRAND, YOU ALWAYS SAVE THE DAY!!!

cannot peel tape from roll

I've had a problem in the past with cheap brands which are hard to peel from the roll, so I only use Scotch now. But now I have many rolls that are unusable because I cannot peel the edge of the tape from the roll after first use, or if I use a knife and manage to peel some off, it splits into tiny strips. Very frustrating! I came here looking for tips and found many other users with the same problem, and each time Scotch just responds to call them. I work at night, after hours.

terrible tape

I bought the package tape with the red roller, I spent half an hour trying to get it unstuck from itself for first time use. I managed to do that, then it stuck to itself again. I ended up throwing it away out of frustration. Why can't you make a tape and roller that is user friendly.

Not environmentally friendly

There do not seem to be 1.88 inch x 800 inch refills for the red plastic tape dispensers. Why? While I like your clear packaging and shipping tape, it is very disappointing that I must consign the empty dispensers to the landfill since the local recycling centers will not accept them.
Can't 3M do better?

This is the worst tape I have ever used for moving!!! Literally cones off brand new moving boxes in 10 minutes!! I will have to re-tape all boxes as the movers load them. I have had 3-4 tape strips on the bottom one direction and 1-2 the other. Same with the top. It still won’t stick. Even on empty boxes. There has to be a better tape out there!!!! I eclectic better from this company as their tape was wonderful on my last move. I do not have time to keep buying more tape and re-taping boxes!!! This is already a stressful time and this is adding to it!

Almost perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would have given it 5 stars, but it was hard to get the roll started. They do the smaller scotch tape with a colored non sticky tab to lift and start...why not this?
Aside from that, the dispenser portion is solid and works well, the tape is sticky and stays stuck to boxes and envelopes well, and it doesn't seem like it will tear or come loose when shipping. Once I got it started it was easy to dispense onto the box and it's wide enough to cover a seam with a single strip.
