I used these to make letter-sized pocket folders for my students. I just opened the file folder folded the bottom edge up to make a pocket along the lower edge bound the open sides with wide tape and closed the folder again. These are for portfolios stored in the classroom and used only periodically. The thinner material of this file folder lent itself to my purpose. I would want a heavier material for files used to store more than a few sheets and/or subject to more frequent handling.
