Impressed with this product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have, of course, used ScotchBlue when painting in my home but I never thought about using it for any thing other than that. My son was working on a mulit-media art project for school. He asked me if we had any of the "blue tape". I told him that we did and gave it to him. He began to put it on his art work with me freaking out and thinking he had ruined his project. He assured me it would be fine. When he finished, he removed the tape and to my amazement there was no trace that it had been on there. Everything he had covered was still just as it was before.

Does the job if you follow the instructions

The product works wonderfully for it's intended purpose.
It doesn't leave any residue on your walls when you peel the tape away.
Remember to peel the tape while the paint is still a bit damp, otherwise, the tape will rip or it will take some of your new paint off the wall with the tape. I am not taking a star away for this since the instructions are clear.

Works great

The tape does not stick too strongly so when you peel it off, it would not also take whatever it's stuck to unlike duct tape and so on. It's excellent for not allowing paint to get through when painting different sections. I would definitely recommend and will use again if doing paint work in the future.

Tape peeled off the paint and part of wall surface upon removal.

Usually this tape works great, but this time there were places where the tape peeled off the paint and part of the wall surface upon removal. Now I have to fix the wall surface and repaint.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had our new ceiling fan housing damaged from the tape peeling paint off, also had paint peeled off the wrought iron stair rail, and it peeled wood off our base moldings.
I would not recommend this tape, in fact I'll tell people not to use it.

Had to sand and repaint

I purchased a new roll for painting my bedroom labor day weekend. While the tape worked fine on the baseboards it was awful on the walls. I was painting an accent wall and placed the tape on the wall next to it to avoid mixing colors. One wall was newly painted (24 hrs ago) and the other wall I had not painted as of yet. When I went to remove the tape (both walls) paint chips in several sections came off with it. Had to sand and repaint new wall had to sand old wall to smooth out what came off there too. Used 3 yr old roll of the "green tape" that I had from past jobs along with this and it worked just fine.

We are sorry to hear about the trouble you had with our ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape 2090. Please note that the ScotchBlue™ 2090 (blue core) & 2093 (green core) Painter's Tapes have a higher level of adhesion. They should be used on painted surfaces in which the paint has been allowed to cure for 30 days or more. Once applied to the surface, they can be left on for a period of no more than 14 days. We would recommend using the ScotchBlue™ 2080 Painter's Tape (orange core) which is designed for more delicate surfaces and has a lower level of adhesion. This tape is used for faux painting/design work. It can be applied to a painted surface that has had a 24 hour dry time or better. Once applied to the surface it can be left on the surface for a period of no more than 60 days. Please watch for a direct email from us to you for possible replacement product. Thank you.
