[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The tape is sturdy enough for repairing books and wrapping packages and has a nice slightly matte finish. It still manages to be clear enough not to be distracting on presents, although not always completely invisible due to creases and bubbles. This could be my application. I also applied it as a label and wrote on it inside a notebook. The pen wrote well and did not smear while writing, however, many hours later, although it looked great and had not transferred to the other side of the book. I gently wiped my finger across it and smeared the ink. Several days later, it did not transfer when wiped again. This isn’t a serious issue unless you are wanting to write on it without the risk of transfer if rubbed against. Overall, I like the tape and intend to use it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tape worked like any other. I appreciated the clear nature (vs some tapes that can appear frosted). I could write on it with a marker and a pen without risk of smudging once the ink was dry. I have not had opportunity to test the durability of the label, but it seems fine for light use. The tape stuck decently to nonporous surfaces like plastic sleeves to create tabs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used tape that was hard to dispense- difficult to perforate, would tear off in odd angles leaving some on the roll, some peeling off, and whole claiming to be able to write on, would easy smudge or not really show up well on the tape. This is not that tape.
This tape was way to load onto a dispenser, easy to tear in even, desired increments, and when using pencils, very easy to write on without any smudges and was highly visible to read.
This tape feels high quality and was easy to perforate with no concern as to uneven tears or the tape folding in on itself/clinging to anything else other than its intended target. Not only do I use this tape at work, I use this tape at home with my children for various projects. They were able to use the tape with ease without all the previous issues we have encountered in the past of the tape getting crumbled up and subsequently thrown away/being wasted. It even resulted in my kids reducing the amount of tapes used through its improved durability and ease of getting the tape from the dispenser to its intended objects being joined together.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I mainly used this tape for gift wrapping and labeling, and while the idea of a write-on surface sounds useful, the actual performance didn’t meet my expectations.
The tape is very thin, which made it prone to tangling and tearing, especially when pulling off longer pieces. I also ran into issues after labeling when trying to remove the tape. It was difficult to peel cleanly and often tore instead of lifting smoothly. In a few cases, removal caused light scratching or surface damage, which was unexpected for a product meant for labeling.
Writing results depended on the pen used. Sharpie worked well, but gel ink smudged easily, and ballpoint pen also smeared. Because of this, the write-on feature didn’t feel more convenient than using regular tape.
Adhesion was fair but inconsistent. When used on gift wrap, the tape popped loose in spots, making it unreliable for wrapping presents.
Pros: • Sharpie writes clearly on the surface • Clean, simple appearance • Works for very short-term or low-stakes labeling
Cons: • Very thin and tears easily • Difficult to remove cleanly after labeling • Can scratch or damage surfaces during removal • Smudges with gel and ballpoint pens • Adhesion not strong enough for gift wrapping
Overall, this tape may be fine for quick, temporary labeling, but between the tearing, smudging, and difficult removal, it didn’t outperform standard tape for me and isn’t something I would repurchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tape came just in time for Christmas! I was out of tape to wrap gifts so this really came in handy! It stuck really well and I had no issues with it lifting on any type of paper or surface. The convenience of being able to write on the tape is also really nice. You obviously have to choose the correct type of pen, but it works well with a standard pen and sharpie! It truly is invisible, at least on what I had used it for. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this tape. I already used tape to label things temporarily because it’s so much easier than my label maker. These are amazing. It’s super easy to write on and make whatever size you need since it works like normal tape. We used this for all our binders and it’s now a staple in my planner. We even stuck some on my daughter’s water bottles and it held up surprisingly well. I also like that it can be just tape so you don’t need multiple rolls of different tapes around the home.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a chance to try the Staples Invisible Tape Refill (3/4" x 36 yds) during the holiday season when there was much gift wrapping to do. I had hoped the write-on surface would help me keep track of similarly shaped packages between wrapping & labeling, but found the surface too slick to hold any of think ink from the pens I tried to use to write on it. The tape sticks like glue and I'll continue to happily use it even though I cannot figure out how to make the most of the write-on feature. This tape also tears easily on my tape dispenser and was part of an efficient gift-wrapping season, 2025!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This matte tape is okay. There's nothing exceptional about it or nothing really bad about it. You can write on it, but it does rub off a little. I used it to wrap a gift, and it sticks as well as other tapes I've used. I usually use shiny tape finishes, so I never really noticed if there were lines left on the tape, but this one does leave visible lines on the tape when dispensing from the roll (pictured). Not much of a big deal, but it may be distracting if you are using it for photos. Overall, I give it 3 stars, it works, but I've experienced better.
