I've used Staples clear tape for years to pack books for mailing. I prefer it to Scotch brand because I find that too hard to tear. I get the extra-long rolls because they're more economical. The only disappointment is that I can't find a tape holder with large enough capacity.

The best thing about this tape is it's crystal clear as I use it to cover stickers. I also use it to tape boxes and cover my shipping labels to make them semi waterproof. You can put it directly over images or lettering without it distorting. It's considerably better then those thinner packaging tapes. I purchased this packing tape on purpose just because of the clarity and the thickness. Excellent product.
