Although I'm a cheapskate I ended up buying this tape even though it wasn't the cheapest. But I'm delighted. Other people had other brands of tape but this tape far outperformed all the others! It was certainly worth it.

Does not stick as well as I would like it to. It has a tendancy to come loose unless stuck to other tape.
Shreds very easily when you are cutting it and doesn’t seem to stick that well

High on Heavy Duty Storage Tape

We've tried many brands of packing tape but have purchased only this one brand for the past few years. It is strong enough for all of our shipping easy to work with and heavy enough it doesn't cling to itself. One big plus is it comes in double size rolls so we are not constantly changing the tape gun. We like that it comes in a 6 pack so we are not constantly running to the store. The adhesive is just right on this brand. Once it is on it really stays. We don't buy any other packing tape since we found this one.
I used to regularly buy the Duck brand tape from Staples which offered excellent characteristics of being crystal clear and having a very strong permanent acrylic adhesive as well as being very easy to unwind off the roll (using a tape gun) and easy to start if you accidentally lose track of the end. It would stick to just about anything including the polyethylene and tyvek envelopes that I use for mailing on a regular basis. Unfortunately on my last shopping trip I found that my local store no longer carried the above mentioned tape and that this was the next closest thing. Sad to say it is not up to snuff. It seems to grip well enough and is clear yes... however getting this stuff to unwind off the roll is like fighting with old duct tape that's been left in a hot car and doesn't want to come apart for anything. It's that bad. Now I'm stuck with 5-7/8 rolls left that I'm honestly probably going to just pitch or give away.
