I went into Staples looking specifically for the Avery 8165 labels (full 8.5" x 11" size) but the store only offered this full page substitute in a box of 100 (another frustration when I didn't need so many). Not wanting to have to wait or pay shipping I compromised and bought the Staples brand. Sorry I did. While the sticky label "works" because I print several small labels (which vary in size from project to project) I soon discovered that the Staples brand is harder to work with. As to be expected the back portion of the page needs to be peeled off in order to use affix the label to the receiving box or whatever; BUT unlike the Avery brand which runs a pre-cut split all across the length AND width of the sticky portion of the page Staples only runs the slit along the length of the page. This means that if one is cutting off any portion of the page towards the other side of the paper trying to remove the protective backing is very problematic as there is no pre-cut portion of the protective paper to grab onto when the time comes to affix one's label. Very frustrating time consuming and problematic. I buy this full size label paper in order to print anywhere from 4 to 6 to 8 or ten labels per page so the minute one cuts the page of labels in half top to bottom one loses that pre-cut slice to remove the backing. Not a well thought out design on part of Staples.

Cheap

Flimsy almost impossible to peel off backing and the ink doesn't really dry well on it. While way cheaper than Avery it's not worth the frustration.
I wanted to print out name tags for a soccer tryout. Printed beneath the name was a symbol in a color. The colors looked fine on the label. However the labels did not stick to the jerseys onto which they were affixed. I think that these labels would probably be fine for their intended purpose--shipping. However the name brand labels do advertise certain adhesive properties. The previous week we used the name brand labels (smaller size) and there was no issue with the labels falling off. However we wanted a larger size label for this week so used the Staples labels. Ultimately we should have paid for the name brand labels but a larger size as it has an enhanced adhesive. OVERALL If you are using this for shipping it should be fine. It looks fine. If you are however using this to put on clothes as a name tag I cannot recommend this product. I would instead use the name brand label that advertises an enhanced adhesive.

Adequate for the job

These labels are definitely a good value for the way that I use them - mailing and shipping. However unless I plan ahead carefully they are tricky to peel when using a 1/2 sheet at a time. A diagonal cut as used in a competitors's full-sheet label is more versatile and easy to peel from the backing but more pricey so Staples has my business for the value not ease of use.
I use these for craft projects and posters. I learned the hard way that you can't skimp on label quality -- the ink runs on the cheap brands and they are paper thin. These are name brand quality for a decent price.
