Perfect Scanner & Perfect Price

This image scanner does everything you could want other than to take the photos from your deck and self load them in. Sure, you need to place the photos onto the glass and click the scan button, but the Canon software takes care of adjusting rotation and auto-cropping so that even someone barely familiar with a computer can load and scan images. The resolution selection is as wide a range as you could want and still have some storage left on your computer, and the software you can download from the Canon website is as user-friendly as you could hope for, Highly recommended.

My computer is running Windows 8.1. I installed the software then plugged in the scanner's USB cable (no power cord needed). It did not come with a physical user's manual booklet, but made a desktop shortcut to the online user's manual. You open the program IJ Scan Utility installed with the software where you can choose resolution, photo or document settings, what type of file to save it as, etc. I'm not sure if you can scan only a boxed section of a photo or not (I have not read the full manual), but Windows edit can cut out a boxed section from the full scan anyway.

This product does not work with Windows 10. Had to return it for another brand which is working perfectly.

What a great little scanner.

I am replacing a great HP Scan-jet scanner. Finally the software became out dated so this is the replacement. I operate windows 10. I have had no problem with installation or operating. There was a little trick to the installation where the scanner had to be disconnected and proceed with the computer installation. Then power up and plug in and everything started warming up. I have tried there different programs for scanning and all worked. Great for day one.

Incorrect resolution given

I bought this product, because in my previous scanner, HP Scanjet 4500, the lamp has burned out. I choose it for the high optical resolution 4800 dpi x 4800 dpi, as specified. However with the installed software the highest resolution I can select is only 1200 dpi. Also the picture enhancements. like dust removal I cannot select.
Please, advice me how to select the above!

worth every penny

purchased this on a whim but I must say it has been the best decision when it comes to scanners. It scans really clear and high quality. I purchased one for myself in europe and one for my parents in canada, we both love using it. The IJ software that comes with it is super easy and the best part is if you have multiple photos and press Auto Scan, it automatically saves them as separate jpg files without needing to crop them yourself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not Compatible with Windows 10

Do not purchase if you have Windows 10. The scanner is not compatible with Windows 10. Tried all the troubleshooting ideas supplied by Canon and searching online for solutions but nothing worked. Turns out this is a common problem as evidenced by the number of posts online by other purchasers. This scanner is being returned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
