Worked well, top gets hot though, & guidebook need

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to try out this waffle maker to make the Potato Smashbrown Waffles I’ve seen all over my social media. I appreciate that there are controls that go from 1-5, however there was no guide to what temperature those numbers correlate to. I like my food extra crispy so I’ll probably always use 5. I also appreciate that there’s a preheat option, and it lights up when ready. However, I didn’t even know whether I was supposed to preheat with it opened or closed and again, it wasn’t in the guidebook, so I had to look up on my own (closed, if you’re wondering).
You can make 2 large waffles at a time, and can turn one off if you want to only make one which is a nice feature.
My potato waffles came out good. It was a bit of a pain to clean, but that is just because of the little grooves and would be that way for any waffle maker.
My only real complaint is how how the top part got while closed. If I had little kids around, I would be afraid of them accidentally touching it. There should be some kind of anti-burn cover. I didn’t actually burn myself when I touched it, though.
Lastly, the guidebook said “before next use, lightly grease the cooking plates for easy removal of cooked DONUTS”. lol
