Love no cord!

Worn horseshoes are used to create western art by crafters. The issue, however, is that they are worn by the horse through mud, gravel, and other abrasive materials for weeks/months. During that wearing they also rust. Sandblasting is often used to try to clean them up, but when my friend asked me if I could do something with her horse's used shoes, I decided to see what the Dremel 8240 could do, since I didn't have access to sandblasting equipment. The picture below doesn't do justice to how rusted and dirty they were. I first tried to soak one of them in water and dishsoap overnight. Very little changed and the rust got worse. So I decided to reference the Dremel Accessory Chart and selected recommended cleaning tools to try from the numerous ones I had from my corded Dremel tool. I had my doubts, I confess, but I shouldn't have. The Dremel cleaning and polishing accessories were perfect and though a bit messy, removed the rust and gunk. The 8240 was amazing to use. There are LED battery indicators which I frequently checked but the battery life is quite long and required no recharging through cleaning BOTH shoes over several days of use. Because it's cordless, you can twist and turn the tool without having to deal with stopping to untangle a cord frequently. That alone makes it invaluable. (When it says heavy duty applications, it's no lie. My brother borrowed it to use on his car parts and the detailing work he needed to do. It worked great and I may never get it back from him!) The variable speed was also quite useful as I slowed on crevices' and creases and zipped along on flat surfaces. Be sure you wear safety glasses as material does fly off what you're cleaning. The body is "fatter" so it is easier to hang onto. Your hand won't cramp up, even after prolonged use. It doesn't heat up with long use either. When I was ready to polish, changing accessories was easy. My only issue was the weight of the tool because I have arthritis, so I had to set the tool down and rest more frequently, despite the comfortable grip. I understand the 8250 is brushless and has even more power, but honestly, this one is quite sufficient. This is an awesome tool and I can see so many uses around the house for it, as well as with my crafts. It did an impressive job cleaning up these shoes. There are many advantages to it, but the biggest one is not needing to deal with a cord and cord hangers attached to the workspace! If the tool could somehow be made lighter I would have given it 5 stars.

I bought this yesterday and light on charger is always a solid green but the fuel gauge flashes one light or all three lights after just a couple of minutes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought my first Dremel a Dremel 200. I say first because I fell in love this the tool and plan to buy a new updated Dremel cordless soon. I am new to wood working and didn`t want to spend a ton of money on a Dremel. Well, like I said I fell in love with the thing. I have made a sleigh and a snowman for my wife. She thought they are cute. That`s all I needed

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great for using around an apartment when I don’t have a lot of storage space! Easy for DIY fixes and shelving and sanding down walls after caulking. Love the little storage case that it comes in. Tucks away nicely in the closet.

I bought my Cordless Dremel to do touch-up work on tools, but it lasted 2 days before it broke. Either it is the switch or the battery. After charging it will run but don't turn it off because it will not turn back on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I can use it in tight spaces and it gets the job done. This is a great product for odd jobs around the home and crafting too.

No cord makes such a difference

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced a cheap, generic, off brand tool with this one, and it is so much better. Since it's cordless, it's so much easier to use anywhere on any project. The battery seems to hold up for a long time between charges, and it's has enough power on battery power alone. The tool is ergonomic - easy to hold and control. It's a great addition to my tool collection and super handy on a wide variety of projects!
