Love the machine, hate the mats

I love this machine EXCEPT for the mats. I find them thin and flimsy. I also have a cricut and those mats are more substantial plus you can insert them into the cricut machine top to bottom or bottom to top which allows me to spread the use of the mat over the whole mat instead of having to drag my cuttings manually over the ScanNCut mat. I hope Brother redesigns and improves their mats. Also, the cost of the ScanNCut mats are ridiculous compared to their quality.

A love hate relationship

I love my Brother Scan n Cut, but I do not love the mats. They don’t last very long and they are EXTREMELY expensive.

Junk, don't buy. Warranty is ridiculous

Only used a handful of times was like brand new. Machine now won't turn on cost as much to fix as a new machine. At their price point should last more than 10 uses on simple items. Bought a bunch of accessories that are now useless. Tell me why my older cm never had these issues

Beautiful machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free, from Brother, in exchange for my honest review. This is such a beautiful and sleek cutting machine. I’ll admit that in the beginning, the software and usage, was a little overwhelming. But i was able to get the hang of it and started making stuff in no time. Mostly, I use it to make vinyl stickers for my car or for home items around the house. I love the scanning feature so much! It makes accessing designs, so much easier. I absolutely recommend this machine, if you want quality craft cuts.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love my scan n cut!!!

Love the scan n cut!! ALMOST bought a cricut but decided to upgrade my old scan n cut for this new version! I love that it’s a stand alone machine. Computer not required. As an illustrator I can just create my own work and cut it out! I don’t need to rework anything on the computer. I love that this one can detect the thickness of the material you’re using. And it can do a half cut!! That’s why I almost bought the cricut. So glad I did more research and learned that my favourite brother brand was capable of doing a kiss cut! Love my scan n cut!! Will definitely stick with Brother!

Not User Friendly!

This machine has so much potential but it falls short. It is not very user friendly. I think it would help if the canvas workshop had an app for the iPad. I bought it to save me time, and so far it has cost me time and money.

Complicated

I sent my unit back. I found it complicated to set up. I didn’t understand why there are two apps to use it. It couldn’t be used on windows so I couldn’t set it up on my laptop. It had to be setup on my iPad or phone. . It could have just been me but it seemed too complicated compared to the cricut.

Many capabilities of machine, problems with mat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was amazed by the amount of features this Brother Scan n’ Cut has, and I love that there are preloaded designs on the machine itself unlike other paper cutting machines I have used. There is a large selection of preloaded designs, and they can be resized to fit your needs for your project. It is a bit difficult to get the hang of using the small computer screen but after a few attempts and rereading the instructions I understood how to operate. My major issue with this machine is the provided cutting mat, it comes with the high tacky mat and I would’ve preferred a mat with less stickiness to it. I tried using the provided piece of paper in the box, and had no issues. However, when I used card stock it stuck to the mat so I boiled some water and steamed the mat to remove the paper residue. I learned from that point to always test the paper first in the corner before laying down the entire sheet. I found that shiny scrapbook paper works best with this particular mat since it is highly sticky, I’m hoping after more use it will lose some of its tackiness so I can use other papers. I am also unsure of how long a mat will last, because it seems somewhat thin and not very durable for numerous projects. Also, since the mat is highly sticky it makes it rather tedious to remove intricate pieces from a project once it’s done cutting, I am going to stick to more simple designs until the mat loses some tackiness to avoid ripping projects with intricate details. All in all, I am impressed by all this machine can do and look forward to continue learning more about how to use it and make lots of projects.
