Good printer but with some flaws

Wow, 9 reviews and all from folks who have received this printer for free in exchange for a review. I'll add mine, not so glowing - but hey, at least I paid for this machine out of my own pocket.
Overall, not a bad machine with a few issues. Bought it to replace an older HP OfficeJet 8610, so obviously comparing to the previous model I had.
The good: - Decent print speed, good colors, fairly quiet. - Supports a variety of networking protocols, including CIFS (aka "Windows shared folder"), FTP, SFTP - which is perfect for a home office. - Compact, just barely larger than the 8x11 scanner flat bed. - Native Linux scanning support at high-resolution (HP was limiting Linux scanning support at 600dpi).
Not so good: - The node name (i.e. the name you see this device on your local network) cannot be changed. There is a box in the settings for this, but once you save the new node name, it reverts back to the default value "BRNxxxxxxxxxxxx" (with "xxx" being printer's MAC address) after a few seconds. Tried setting it via the printer's panel, via the web UI, and via the WIndows app (BRadmin Professional). Not a big deal, but if you have more than printer, you'd need to remember which MAC address each of them has. - The compression for built-in JPEG scan is horrible: the resulting picture has visible compression artifacts (squares of about 8x8 pixels). Scanning as a raw image to the computer does not produce such visible artifacts. - The ADF for the scanner is really small, I wouldn't load more than ~8 pages at a time. It also has a weird construction where the scanned pages are going on top of the pages yet to be scanned. You don't see how many pages remain to be scanned, and it looks as if ADF might pull the page it just scanned back into the ADF (though it hasn't happened yet).
As a side note, support could be better informed about product features. I asked a question on this page about scanning to network, and received incorrect response from Brother support team. Fortunately, before that I have reached to a different response via chat (which turned out to be correct), and confirmed myself that scanning to network folder is supported.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Printer was very simple to setup, it helps to have the screen on it unlike some others. App was used to configure and add to WiFi. No issues with connectivity, easy to use on airprint. Printer may eat up ink easily if you’re doing photo printing. Print quality on normal pages is great.

A Game-Changer for Home and Office Printing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the Brother INKvestment 4555 printer, and honestly, it’s been great. Setting it up was super easy—no stress - no confusing steps. I connected it to Wi-Fi in just a few minutes and started printing right away.
The print quality is sharp and colorful, way better than I expected for something in this price range. I’ve printed everything from work documents to photos, and it all looks clean and professional. So far, it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it without a hitch. The paper tray holds a good amount, and I haven’t had any jams or weird errors. It’s quiet, too—which I really appreciate when I’m working late or printing a bunch of pages. For an all-in-one, it feels solid and reliable, and I can tell it’s built to last. It's definitely one of those products that just makes life easier.

A printer that actually keeps up with you and does

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is a beast 1800 pages on one cartridge an app wireless printing and a scanner to cool art pieces. It feels like having a mini office but way more fun. The speed is actually solid for a color inkjet no crazy wait times even with bigger files. Print quality is clean sharp and colors pop way more than I expected especially on thicker paper. The ink efficiency is the real win though because usually inkjets are money traps but this one stretches the pages like crazy. Paper handling is smooth with two trays so you don’t have to keep swapping paper sizes and the auto duplex is clutch when you’re trying to save paper. The connectivity is modern and painless WiFi Direct works straight from your phone and the Brother Mobile Connect app makes it so easy to print stuff on the go. Scanning is crisp too whether it’s notes or actual artwork. Overall it feels like a future proof setup that’s actually built for real daily use and not just a pretty office prop.
If you do not have a printer, this is the one. Blown away I have made it this far in life without my own.

Great all-in-one printer for a small office space!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Brother MFC-J4555DW for free in exchange for my honest review, and honestly I’m super happy with it. Setup was quick and straightforward, I had it up and running within minutes. The print quality is sharp, the colors are vibrant, and scanning/copying is really simple with the touchscreen. What I love most is the ink situation. It comes with high-yield INKvestment cartridges that print up to 1,800 pages in black and 750 pages in color, so I don’t have to stress about constantly replacing them. That’s a big money and time saver for our small office/team.It’s compact enough to fit nicely in our office but still does everything we need it to do for our business (print, copy, scan, fax, etc). Plus, it runs pretty quietly, which I appreciate. Overall, it’s been a great all-in-one printer and has definitely exceeded my expectations. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something reliable and easy to set up.

Great-Quality Printer Worth the Setup Time
on October 16, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The setup process took a bit longer than expected — around 20 minutes from unboxing to completion — but the results were very satisfying. My previous printer was also an ink printer, and after leaving it unused for a while, the colors often wouldn’t print properly. This is my first time using a liquid-ink type, and it feels like it might perform better in that regard.
I printed a photo of my friend’s cat from my phone, and the colors came out beautifully — the print quality is excellent. The printer itself looks premium and is very easy to set up: just plug it in and it’s ready to go. I haven’t tried the fax function yet, but I’m happy that it includes one.

Beautiful printer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful printer! The touchscreen is really responsive and has a high contrast. The set-up was easy: you just plug it in and follow the instructions to download the app.
We did have some issues with paper jamming on the top tray though.. but the only way to fix it was turning it off for 5 min then turning it back on.
A nice feature if it having two paper tray, meaning you can print on a traditional letter paper, and leave the other tray for printing photos.
