Love 1034D 3/4 Thread Serger

I have been sewing for 40 years and had previously been an 'Absolutely Love' faithful customer of another sewing machine company which in my estimation has wonderful machines. But my financial situation has changed over the years and I cannot afford some things like I once could. I began looking at Brother machines because of the reasonable cost. To my surprise, Brother machines have far surpassed my expectations so much that I don't dream of the previous machines anymore! I purchased the 1034D 3/4 Thread Serger not quite a year ago and absolutely LOVE it! It is a powerhouse of a machine yet can handle all of the delicate fabrics I challenge it to sew. That's a HUGE deal to me! I have opened a Business teaching kids and ladies how to sew and now use nothing but Brother machines. I have since purchased 3 additional sewing machines for students and have also recently purchased a lower model embroidery machine and may have to look at more if my business keeps growing. And I've got to say... NONE of them have disappointed me! My serger does so much more than my old favorite serger; runs twice as fast and has a 3/4 thread option along with feet options. Go Brother.... you've come a long way since my first Brother almost 40 years ago, which by the way was my very first machine! I have come back to my first love in sewing machines!

The Best Little Serger Ever

I bought my 1034D five years ago to sew pillows. As an Independent Contractor for a very busy workroom, serging all cases and welt is mandatory. I can tell you that I use this machine nearly every day and it has held up so well. It is basically an industrial machine for me. In that it is so inexpensive I thought I would just buy it and get another in a year or so. It has lasted all these years! I do clean and oil it regularly and it just keeps on going. The blades are expensive though and with what I do I have to change them every 6 months or less.

I had to replace it with a better model

It chewed up my fabric and jammed which cost me almost as much as the machine cost.

Worst Purchase Ever

I bought this machine in December and it didn’t even last for two months before it stopped looping the fourth thread. After following all advice, new needles, retreading, new thread, and tightening the belt, it still doesn’t work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Machine breaks threads very easy. You can't complete a project without having to worry about the breaking threads and trying to restart in the position the breakage occurs.

Fantastic Serger!

I have the found the Brother Overlock 1034D Serger to be easy to thread and use. It is such a time saver and finishes and trims seams beautifully in a snap. I love it!!!!

Not what I expected

I got the Brother 1034D for Christmas 2017. I had been wanting a serger for some time. I had great plans for all the wonderful things I would make. However, what has been the biggest deterrent of this product are the videos for us beginners. Yes, I can spend hours on Youtube... (which I have done btw), but all my free time gets spent looking up how to videos, and nothing for doing. My biggest wish is that Brother would dedicate itself on providing better informational videos that are up to date. There are other machines that offer this, and if I were to choose again, I probably would go with another company for that reason alone. For people that have more experience sewing and serging, yes, I would recommend... but for us beginners, not really.

Love my serger

I purchased my Brother 1034D online and I have not regretted it one bit. In looking for a serger I wanted one that was easy to use and would be able to serge seams. I was pleasantly suprised that it did more than that. It can gather and piping. I highly recommend this serger. It is easy to thread too. I was concerned about that too.
