[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted something light weight for my yard trimming chores and this fits the bill. Also, it's a hard little worker and can cut through wood that I didn't know if it could. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for a female avid gardener.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] More capable than I expected. Great purchase. I recently moved and needed to clear some trees in a wooded area ( 2-3 inch trees/saplings and fallen dead trees). I debated going for a gas chainsaw but elected to try the 24V as I already have a few tools with the 24V (the 4 amp was a nice boost). I’m glad I stuck with the battery saw for my simple needs. It was surprisingly efficient, balanced light weight, quiet and very capable. Multiple sessions of use, I ran out of resolve before I ran out of battery. After my initial positive impressions, I eventually decided to even take a (successful) shot at a recently cracked 40’ pine tree that needed to be safely brought down. What a wonderful tool! I’m glad I bought it.
Works but chain keeps coming loose and popping off

I've had the saw for a year now. Its plenty capable for my needs cutting small limbs, trees, and some girdle and spray. The biggest issue, the chain jumps off the bar easily. I've been cutting with gas powered saws my whole life so I'm experienced when it comes to saw operation. I would not recommend any back cut with this or it will be jumping off the saw.
Pros: Easy to Use

Hello LakeTiger6. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear about the challenges you have experienced and that you do not recommend our machine. The chain on a Greenworks chainsaw might come off due to incorrect tension, a worn or damaged chain, a worn sprocket or bar, or the bar becoming misaligned. It seems like you have taken all the right steps. You may want to double check the chain tension; it may be too loose. A chain that is too loose can easily slip off the bar, especially during cutting. New chains stretch and require frequent adjustment, so check and adjust the tension regularly, especially when using a new chain. Please review the video shared for a better demonstration on how to adjust the chain tensioning. You can view the video here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-KpMFu4IdY). If you have exhausted all troubleshooting steps and the problem persists, contact us through Live Chat on Greenworks Tools website or call 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). So, our experts can discuss your experience; please have your unit, battery and charger with you along with the model and serial number to complete troubleshooting to ensure quick resolution is provided.
Cheapo plastic toy chainsaw at a premium price. I used it for one day, and I'm returning it. Absolute rubbish!

I bought this as a lighter duty chainsaw to complement my full time powerhorse. It is lightweight, goes through thicker branches like butter and the power time is quite impressive. To be clear, this is not a primary saw, but it goes days without recharging and helps 2 people take down a large tree much quicker - one works on the main trunk while the other uses this saw to take out branches. If this one fails, I will happily purchase another one!
The chain slips off too easy and the battery does not last very long. If you have a few trees to cut it might suffice but I’m really disappointed in this product.

Hello Richard Carlisle,
Thank your for taking the time to share your experience. While the chain is installed on the bar, it will require to be tensioned and adjusted prior to your first use and frequently while cutting as new chains will stretch out. We would recommend reviewing the tensioning steps as outlined in your instruction manual. Ensure the chain tensioner is tight enough to keep the bar from moving. With the 4.0Ah battery included the unit will be able to cut up to 70 pieces of 4x4 pressure treated wood. If you continue to experience the same concerns, we recommend contacting Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 or by email on info@greenworkstools.com a Customer Care support can evaluate the chain saw, the chain tensioner assembly, bar, and chain with you. Thanks again and we hope you get this worked out.
I've used the saw a few times around the house and also in the woods where we hunt. It is lightweight and easy to use, the saw speed is acceptable and the chain was ultra sharp. At 24V I was skeptical about torque and it's a bit on the weak side. If you add the slightest pressure to the tool while it's cutting, it will shut the motor down. There is no delay in getting it back on as you just release the power switch and then squeeze and it takes off right away, still, it's a bit annoying. Variable speed would also be a nice feature on this saw. Definitely would recommend but it does have some limitation regarding how lightly you have to use it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hello sr672,
Thank you for your honest and detailed feedback! Our 24V line is ideal for light-duty work. The higher the voltage on a product, the more power you will receive and the heavier job you'll be able to tackle. With a higher voltage does come a higher price point but depending on your workload, it may be necessary. Not only does it make the job easier, but it is safer to use the right tool for the job! Please consider checking out our higher voltage products, we truly do not think you'll be disappointed. If you wish to discuss products with our team directly, do not hesitate to reach out at info@greenworkstools.com or through our helpline at 1-888-909-6757.
