I purchased this saw to help clearing light brush at the rear of our property. My gas powered 16" saw was too heavy for the job, and my it was too far (about 180') for my corded electric saw. most of the brush and vines were about 1" to 1-1/2". This saw was perfect for the job; light enough to easily use for several hours, and made short work of these vines and brush. vines and branches from 1-1/2" to 2" were a bit difficult and I needed to fire up the gas saw for anything over 2". Stuff under 1/2" was a bit too springy and I needed a pair of hand loppers for that. The saw does leak a little oil, but that's pretty much the nature of all chain saws, and this one leaks a lot less than my old corded electric pole saw. I would happily buy another.

Not an improvement over older model

So disappointed in this newer version. The tensioner is finicky - it's a two part system - many times the chain gets loose on this newer model saw and I have to monkey around with the tensioner for minutes to adjust the chain tension whereas the older model was straight forward and took only seconds. Also, the newer chain saw changed the oil tank style and location thus causing oil leaks whereas the older model I never had any problems. The newer chainsaw is longer whereas the older chainsaw was shorter and the battery compartment was up high on top whereas the new one has the battery below the handle. The new saw looks nice but I missed the practicality and functionality of the old design.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback! One of the many benefits of the Greenworks 24V platform is the interchangeability of the batteries. If additional batteries are purchased in a combo pack (tool + battery) for another Greenworks 24V tool, you will have extra battery that would provide you with the additional run time. Alternatively, additional batteries can be purchased to extend the run time. This unit is compatible with 24V Greenworks batteries (only). The only issues you may experience using a heavier battery is the added weight to the unit which may not be as comfortable to handle as a smaller battery.
