Not bad

It feels a bit like shoving a cement block with a stick, but it can toss the snow! Not so good for deep or chunky stuff at the end of the driveway. But, will clear sidewalk and driveway in light to medium snow depths efficiently. Make sure you get an extra battery. You'll need it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A lifesaver during a Midwestern winter

I’m a female senior citizen who gave up starting a gas lawn mower several years ago. I bought a Greenworks 40V lawn mower, a few years ago and never looked back. Out of necessity, I bought the Greenworks 40V snowblower. Works well despite the horrific snowfall. Sometimes I need to clear the chute and attack steep snow in “steps” or sections but it performs well under these conditions.

Hello SuperCC,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We are committed to making sure our customers are 100% satisfied with the quality and durability of their purchase. We are glad to read that overall, you have been enjoying this Snow Blower.
We would like to recommend a few steps to assist with resolving the problem you mentioned.
On occasion and when the right conditions occur the chute may freeze, it happens. There are different types of ice and snow repellent that can be used to help with this issue.
A clogged Snow Blower is caused by ice or sticky snow building up around the discharge chute and not allowing snow to flow through as it normally would. Particularly icy snow will often cause more frequent clogs than soft, lightweight snow, but they are always a possibility in any conditions. One way to prevent snow clogs in your Snow Blower is to use a non-stick snow blower spray. If you do get a clog while snow blowing, DO NOT attempt to unclog it with your hands or feet. Instead, turn your machine off and wait at least 10 seconds for it to fully stop. Then, use a broom handle or other long, stiff object to clear the blockage. For best use in heavy/wet snow types, you will want to move less at once. Once a full pass has been completed, only move about a third of the width of the unit with each pass going forward. This will help with the load acting against the unit and should hopefully assist in a more enjoyable user experience.
I hope these suggestions help to improve your experience. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our Customer Care team on our toll-free line at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or email us at info@greenworkstools.com if you need any assistance.

weak and clusmy

Fairly poor overall. Description - "Throws snow up to 20 feet." Better described as gauranteed snow will not go further than 20 feet. Typically the snow only goes 5 to 6 feet and this is light Utah powder - not sure what anyone with wet snow would get? 3 feet? The snow chute clogs regularly I had to stop to clear it out several times just doing my driveway. The base is quite clunky - lots of friction trying to push it across the driveway. With some practice I can almost get it to balance between too much friction against ground and lifting front too high up so it leaves a layer of snow on the drive but is able to move. Compared to my neighbors 35 year old gas powered snow blower (which works flawlessly - this is clunky and poor). This is my second snow season and I figured this year I should get my own snow blower - this isn't the one to get. I bought into the Greenworks tools and have 4 or 5 batteries now. I wanted the 22" snowblower but that is only available with more batteries, so I settled for this one -tool only.
Pros: Quiet
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello drminutah,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to read that you are not completely satisfied with this product. Depending on the type of snow, the discharge range will vary. This snow thrower can discharge up to 20' but this would be with light and fluffy snow. If the snow is wet, heavy, packed, or icy the discharge range will reduce significantly. When using any snow thrower on wet snow, there is a chance of clogging. Often, the reason for this is that the speed of the impeller causes wet snow/slush to freeze. For best use in heavy snow types, you will want to move less at once and move a little quicker. Once a full pass has been completed, only move about a third of the width of the unit with each pass going forward. This will help with the load acting against the unit and should hopefully assist in a more enjoyable user experience. Believe it or not, your chute can clog from simply not moving fast enough. As you move faster, the impeller pushes snow out with more force, hopefully throwing in further. It also helps to keep a tool nearby that can be used to poke the ice/snow down when it gets clogged. Never put a tool in while the unit is running and make sure the impeller has completely stopped moving first. If you find that you are still experiencing an issue, please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution.

Clogs up constantly and overwhelmed with 5" of snow. Return window has closed, so I am now stuck with a piece of equipment I cannot use. Additionally, I invested in batteries. So wasted several hundreds of dollars. "Thank you" Greenworks.

LOVED THE PRODUCT

I bought this at the right time. We had 22 inches of snow and I had no problem keeping my driveway nice and clean. The best thing with this product is the easy start and no wires required. My last snowblower was cord and I use to have my kid help me with wire management but with this product, you are ready to go with no other help.

Disappointing

I really tried to make this work, but it just wasn't the right blower for my driveway. I have other greenworks tools that I really like and already had to 80v batteries so that's why I chose it. My main issue was the fact that in mostly light, fluffy snow (4 inches) it would not blow it far enough to even clear the most narrow portion of my driveway causing me to go back over areas multiple times. I was going down the middle of the driveway that is about 10ft wide and it could not make the 5ft to blow it onto the grass, which is obviously well short of the 25ft that is advertised.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe

A Great Light-Duty Snowblower

Got this last fall and am very happy with purchase. Great little snow-blower for small amounts of snow, small driveways, and decks or walkways. It is powerful for it's size and light-weight. Feels very durable and high quality. I like that it uses the same battery as my lawnmower and is compact and easy to store. Drains roughly one 4Ah battery per 4" of dry snow on my 30ft 3 car garage driveway.
Living in Minnesota, old man winter has definitely put this little blower through it's paces. Website is accurate in that it handles up to 10 inches of DRY snow well, or about 6 inches of wet snow and 3 inches of slushy snow. Anything above those conditions and you have to sort of chip away at the snow with forward/backward motions and can be labor-intensive. Not fun using for the end of the driveway where the plow pushes up 1+ foot of compacted snow.
Overall this snowblower is a bit overwhelmed by harsh MN winter. It can get the job done for most snow events but don't rely on this for big storms. I just ordered the big boy 24" 2-stage Greenworks blower after tiring myself out in the last big snow storm and looking forward to using that next time. This 20" blower will still be great for smaller amounts of snow and as a light-duty support blower.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

Hello susks.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We are sorry to hear of the experience with the tool not operating properly out of the box, we'd love to go over how to start the machine as well as share our guided video below in the hopes it helps provide a better user experience.

To power on:

First press the safety switch button. While pressing the safety switch button with one hand, use your other hand to simultaneously pull the bail lever toward you. Once the machine powers on, release the safety switch button and proceed with operation. The snow thrower can only be started by pressing the safety switch button first, followed by squeezing the bail lever; reverse operation will not start the machine.

Please note, cold Weather Operation: Lithium Ion batteries can be safely used from temperatures ranging from -17 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius. NOTE: Do not store or charge battery outside. Battery must be charged and stored indoors prior to use of the snow thrower. Battery may not properly start if it’s temperatures is -17˚C or lower. If unit does not start remove battery from snow thrower. Place battery on charger and allow to charge for 10 minutes to allow battery to warm. Remove from charger and install in Snow thrower for use.

Here's a video that helps explain how to operate your Greenworks 20" Snow Thrower (https://youtu.be/G3qTF0NcpW4).

We hope this information helpful.
