Bad batteries

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this package a few months ago and have only used the blower. The batteries never held a charge very well and now dont work at all. I haven’t even been able to use the mower or string trimmer since I live in a cold state.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Blowers are considered a high-power draw application which means they do tend to drain the battery quite rapidly in comparison to some other tools. The runtime of a Greenworks cordless blower battery is primarily affected by the battery's amp-hour (Ah) rating, which determines how much charge it can hold, meaning a higher Ah rating leads to longer runtime; additionally, factors like the blower's power setting, the amount of debris being moved, ambient temperature, and the battery's condition can also impact its runtime. Users can expect up to 40 minutes of blower runtime with a fully-charged 4.0 Ah battery (based on low setting).
We have designed Greenworks product lines to have a range of batteries that can be used with the tools in that same voltage. This unit can be used with Greenworks 24V 5Ah to 24V 2Ah. The only issues you may experience using a heavier battery is the added weight to the unit which may not be as comfortable to handle as a smaller battery.

I purchased this trimmer, but the auto feeding doesn’t work, so consequently, I have to continuously stop, take the head apart, and manually pull out the string to keep trimming. This is a waste of a tremendous amount of time and string. This is the absolute worst. Don’t buy it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. The auto-feed feature works by releasing 1/4" of line each time the unit starts/stops. To see if this feature is working for you simply release the start trigger 10 and see if the line length changes. When you are using the trimmer, we do advise to release the start trigger periodically to advance additional line. This will be needed more frequently if you are using this around the fence or hard surfaces. Please ensure that the guard is always on the unit while in operation. This will prevent the line from extending too far out and breaking off at a large length, which will cause it to go back inside the spool housing and cause a jam. We have share a video below showing how to use the auto-feed, this is a different unit but the feature will be similar.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems like a nice tool, but string does not advance when needed. Tap and go does not seem to work. After using for one complete battery charge, the trimmer has lost power, and fails to start turning. Even when assisting it to start turning, it doesn't have enough power to cut. Tried new battery, same thing. Checked to make sure there is nothing wound around the head, and there is not. Not happy with this unit.
Pros: Environmentally Safe
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I set out looking for a replacement, but other manufacturers didn't compare. It's light but has the power needed for my lawn. The edging feature makes all the difference. It's a very easy step to edge. Batteries are still going strong!!
