This robot vacuum is by far the best I’ve owned over the years. Its mapping and obstacle-avoidance capabilities are incredibly precise, allowing it to clean quickly and efficiently. It’s also much quieter than any of my previous vacuums, which is a major bonus.
One of my favorite features is the beater brush—it doesn’t tangle, which is fantastic because I used to dread detangling my old one. I also appreciate how you can really dial in the spot-cleaning function for those messes you’d rather not deal with yourself. And the scheduling feature? Absolutely amazing. It keeps the house clean without me having to think about it.
Overall, this vacuum has exceeded my expectations in every way.

This machine is amazing! It works like a dream and cleans your floors and vacuums. I don’t know what else to say. It’s too new to tell how long it will last, but so far, it’s been without issues.

Dreame x40 ultra first impression - Struggles with curtains

The robot vacuum was delivered earlier this week. The setup of the vacuum was fairly easy. Setting up the app didn't take long and was straightforward. The navigation of the robot leaves much to be desired though. It is afraid going anywhere near the drapes leaving a good area of our floors close to the walls untouched. I added curtains in the map though the app but the robot still wouldn't go anywhere near the walls. This is a major issue that I can't seem to resolve. My older Roborock never had issues with the drapes.

Ii have owned two different Shark Matrix robot vacuums, and this is next level! I liked the Sharks a lot, but i love this Dreame x40 Ultra! The options and the app and the way the device works, it checks all of the boxes the Shark doesnt. The on-board camera, the fact that it actually sees my pets and stops, doesnt run into them, sees their bowls and doesnt push them across the floor. The extendable sweeper arm is a revelation and the extendable mop pad is next level! It maps better than the Shark, it does a better job of sweeping and of course the mop function is amazing! So far so good!

This is our second Dreame robot vac as we own two homes. We have a Dreame X50 Ultra and now this X40 Ultra. Because our primary home is predominately carpeted, we felt we did not need the more advanced X50 Ultra. This new unit works very well. We did have one minor problem. Because our carpet appears to be very thick, we have noticed that the robot has some difficulty in returning up the ramp to the base station. This seems to happen when the clear water tank is full and the dirty tank empty (like when we start up a mopping operation). We assume that the weight of the water is pushing down on the right rear of the base and therefore lifting up the left front of the ramp. In other words, the thick carpet is making the ramp to the base station uneven. We think we solved the problem by placing the base and ramp on a piece of plexiglass 18" X 24" which appears to provide a flatter surface over the carpet.
Would also recommend that if you have predominately carpeted floors that you run the robot without wash pads, i.e. vacuum only first. That way the robot vacuums all the carpeted areas first them retrieves the wash pads and vacuums and washing the non carpeted areas secondly.
