I would give this product zero stars if it was an option. This cabinet is flimsy the drawers do not stay on track it is of no use for frequent filling. The product came dented even thought the packaging was not. I was told to use a hammer to push it out when I called my local store regarding a return. "They have to do that all the time." "Even if you return this for one we have on hand we've probably had to do that to it." This is maybe the second bad review I have ever given and generally take the time to give a great review even when it is not requested. If you need durable filling cabinets look elsewhere. This product is not suitable for even a light filling need.
The locking file cabinet is standard useful and what we wanted. The problem was trying to unscrew the handles that were installed backwards for shipping. We stripped out one of the screws trying to loosen it and finally had to enlist the help of the maintenance department who had to go back and get a drill. This may not be the case for all the cabinets we just had Thor preparing ours for shipment apparently. Still a good cabinet solid and not too heavy to move into it's final position.
We are extremely disappointed in these cabinets. The drawers move sideways and after 5 or 6 folders the drawers jump off the wall slides. We are constantly having issues with locking them because of the drawer's misfunctions. We would have returned them but we tried to stabilize them by adding holding rails (which still is not working) to bottom on sliding drawers. We knew once we added a screw...it became our problem. We are actually in the process of deciding whether to trash them and start over. Sorry...but there are 3 of us in this office and no one wants to use them. They look nice and are the best size for our small office....but not liking the use at all.
Staples needs to stop producing and selling this item. The drawers barely opened and closed properly even when the cabinet was complete empty. I followed instructions and made sure that the weight among the drawers was distributed evenly. This was useless advice because the drawers could not handle even a few files let a lone a drawer full of them. This item was promptly returned to the store.
