Two hundred pounds? No way.

The 10-pack was on a very good sale when I bought them and I'm generally happy with the purchase. These are not worth their regular price. The specs say the box can hold 200 pounds. Well that's only if you use the whole 10-pack and fairly evenly distribute the 200 pounds among the boxes. I estimate that the handles would almost certainly give way with anything over 50 pounds in the box -- and that weight would have to be well-distributed to keep from buckling the bottom when you pick it up by the handles. I did not attempt a destructive test but I did partially buckle one with just a 16-lb bowling ball inside (weight was not well distributed). But 200 pounds per box? No way unless you put them onto a pallet with a solid plywood top then fill them without bulging out the sides. By the way you'll need a fork lift to move the pallet around so you can partially unload the boxes before trying to lift them by the handles. I think 30-35 pounds well distributed is a practical hand-carry limit. And don't ever get these light-duty boxes wet or you'll be dealing with cardboard mush. I keep them moderately loaded with files and magazines and very dry so all is well so far.

It is a box that holds paper files and a wide range of other items that you might want to store. Short term long term or for ever how long you want to store them. It behaves like a box it looks like a box and acts just they way you thought a box should. So as far as boxes go this is without a doubt a box. I have used other boxes before that have the same characteristics but not the same shape or size or color. But the did share a common property. They all were able to hold the stuff I put in them. So staples as far as boxes go I can honestly say you have boxes that will do what you expect them to do!

Good value

I have used the staples brand and the bankers box brand in the past. For my uses the staples brand is just fine adequate for storing paper and other heavy items. I feel that they are much better value than the bankers box brand which are much more expensive. I purchased the ten pack of the staples brand since they were much less expensive in the ten pack than individually. I have been able to stack them three high and they do not seem to be deforming or collapsing so I would definitely recommend them.
