Outdoor Hook Experience

As stated in several of the comments, I also experienced what I thought was a product failure; holiday wreath falling from the window after mounting. I also followed the directions completely, including cleaning the window with alcohol. As you might expect I was frustrated and disappointed, however in a conversation with a customer service representative, who was very professional and empathized with my dilemma, he asked if the wreath was within the stated weight limits; "sure" I responded. Truth in fact was that I wasn't absolutely sure of the exact weight of the wreath, the conversation gave me reason to weigh the wreath. I was surprised to find that the wreath weighed 7 lbs. In my case, those hook installations and hangings that are within the stated weight limits are functioning as advertised, the hooks that were asked to support weights greater than their stated rating failed; no surprise here. Here is my advise, weigh your hangings to properly match the size of the hook with the "hook capacity".
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought 6 for lightweight wreaths, followed the directions to a T and all 6 and the wreaths came down, have been a happy user of command hooks for many years but these are no good. Hook not very sticky when picking up the pieces.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Make sure that the window surface is clean. After you hang a clear hook, you can't even tell that it is there.

Enjoy the Birds!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 3m sent me this as a free Sample. I have a favorite Hummingbird Feeder that has been sitting around for a long time. it required something to attach to the window and I received this hook and it is clear on the window and is not distracting from the Bird Feeder, but holds the small beautiful Feeder perfectly. Now enjoying my Hummingbirds is even better. Getting up close and personal.

Not as good as the indoor hooks

Used these to hang wreaths and a swag on windows. One hook has fallen twice. Two others have fallen once. One medium that I purchased to help distribute the weight of the swag also came off and the other loosened. I have managed to get 3 of the large hooks to remain up, two for 3 days and one for one day so far, but have had to use all 8 of the adhesive strips that came in the four packages to get those 3 to stay. In all cases, windows were cleaned well with window cleaner and dried, hooks remained up for over an hour before hanging the wreaths and swag. I use the indoor hooks often and have not had issues with those.

Doesn’t stick to the window

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a big fan of 3M hooks. I use all the sizes, small to large, including their picture hanger systems. I was thrilled to find an outdoor hook for glass to hang my seasonal wreaths. However, I can’t get the hook to stick to the glass. I started with the small hook. It fell off within 30 minutes of holding the wreath. So I bought the 4 pound hook. The same thing happened. The glass is smooth and clean. I waited over night to hang the wreath. I don’t know what trick is needed to make these work.

Hello - We are sorry to hear of the trouble. We would expect these hooks to stick to outdoor glass surfaces that have been cleaned with rubbing alcohol. It is important to put the adhesive to the glass first, then the hook to the adhesive as shown in the packaging instructions. We recommend allowing the hook to set for 1 hour before hanging anything from it. This allows the adhesive time to form a proper bond to support the claimed weight. If you continue to have trouble, please connect with us directly at socialmedia@mmm.com, so we can gather more details and help. Thank you!
