[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this as my first tape measure. The same tape measure my father used, he’s been a carpenter for over 40 years. This is a classic that’s been in the home and on a job site for decades. Like the old saying with anything why fix something that isn’t broke. No need for a fancy tape measure this is all you’ll ever need.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As far back ad I can remember, my Dad always had a Stanley PowerLock tape measure. As an inquisitive kid, I would grab that tape measure at every opportunity and as I grew old enough, I eventually used it for a variety of projects.
Now that I'm grown up, I've purchased one or two of these for my own DIY "shop" in the garage. It has suffered through some drops, getting a bit wet, and being played with by my own kids. I have other more expensive tape measures now, but I find myself reaching for this old classic all the time. It's light but sturdy, and very reliable. The highlighting for stud spacing comes in handy, and the no frills hook is often just the ticket. Sometimes, a crazy huge magnetized hook just gets in the way.

solid contruction, dependable, ease of use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 65 yrs old and have been using Stanley products all my life. My father and uncles all were tradesmen in different industries. They all used Stanley products including retractable tape measures. My first tape measure was one of my father's old ones. I couldn't have been happier when my dad (a carpenter-contractor) passed down a tool he had used and cared for to me. That is especially true if it had the Stanley name on it.

Great Tape for the money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have over six of these in my collection of tools and measuring devices. I always seem to turn to the bright PowerLock in my arsenal. The numbers are easy to see and the tape never gives me problems when retracting. For the money, it is a great device to get the job done well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used Stanley PowerLock tape measures for more years than I can count. They have taken beatings and are still as dependable today as they were the day I bought them. I don't think the PowerLock can or should ever be replaced. I have used all other brands and some new "Red" brand have failed within a few months. I have some PowerLock tapes that are going on 20 years and they still are solid in spite of being used daily. It is something special, no gimmicks or special bells, just a good honest dependable tape.

Fantastic starter tape

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ive had several of these over the years and they work great, though the fat max is better, it is still a great starter tape. Its well made and last a good long time. Now if you dont take care of it, it wont last long, dropping it 30 feet equals complete destruction. Ive dripped them 10 to 20 feet and no issues but 30 feet was to much. The reason for the 4 stars is because the tape itself is alittle flimsy and get beaten up easily.
