I've been trying out different gel pens over the last year and this is the winner. Really nice to write with no splotches doesn't smear. I like the 0.5 size for every day writing; the 0.7 size is a little fatter. I bought the 0.5 in retractable click and the 0.7 in capped lid so I can tell the difference at a glance. I mostly use black but the purple and teal are nice too dark enough to show up. Winner!

I found these pens in a time of my life where I was lost (in terms of having a reliable go-to writing utensil). I have used pretty much every brand model and version of gel pens over the past 20 years. I use my own pen evaluation system which I would like to keep private at this time. Now some pens over the years were better than others some excelled in certain categories but let me down in others. I rotated through pens on a daily basis. I never had a pen that I called my own one that I looked forward to using each and every day. Then I found Staples newly branded "Tru Red" gel pens. These are without a doubt the best gel pen on the market today. The width is excellent the matte grip is superb the ink rolling to surface is wonderful and the best part is that they're simple. They're not overly branded they aren't trying to do too much. They are simply a gel pen with excellent performance. Your life has not begun officially until you own these pens. A+
