Quality has fallen

I'm with the last two reviewers. These cards were outstanding for years but the last batches I have gotten clearly are not of the same quality. I don't know if that is because they are no printed at a different production site (Mexico vs. Germany). My guess is that Avery has changed the coating formula. Using the exact same printer, computer, and printer settings I had used for year, the printing is less sharp and the vibrancy of the print is muted. Traditionally, when I printed art on these cards, they looked absolutely great and everyone was very pleased. They have lost that edge. Please return to the traditional manufacturing formula.

Quality has changed for the worse!!!

I have been using these note cards for about 8 years for my photo cards that I sell. I was so impressed with the deep rich hues and saturation. I so wish I had read these reviews back in November. You will never guess what has happened!! At the end of November I was getting ready to print batches of Christmas cards as I give away my card packs for Christmas Gifts. Suddenly my HP printer crashed and I was fortunate that it was still under warranty, so they send me a new one. However, they did not have my original model. So I received the upgraded printer and I set it up and the print quality was so poor. So I figured it was the new printer. I called HP and after an hour of trouble shooting, they sent me a new one. That did not work either, so again I figured that HP quality went down, so after another hour, they sent me another one. That didn’t work either. So they gave me a monetary refund to purchase my own. I went to a different model that used the same ink as my original model thinking that was the problem. But it wasn’t. The print quality was still bad. So I went to Amazon and found my original model. Low and behold, that did NOT fix the problem. I don’t know why I did not notice this before, but when I compared the new print to my previous cards (I keep an inventory) I suddenly realized that the surface texture was different. The new cards have a slightly smoother surface and the old cards which are advertised as matte finish are just that. I liken it to different qualities of paint. The old cards are a “Flat” finish. And the new cards are “Eggshell”. Everyone knows that Flat finish absorbs more dirt and scuffs, and Eggshell is smoother, so easier to clean. So what is happening with the old set of cards is that it is absorbing more of the ink and causing the deeper, richer tones. The New card is not absorbing the ink so the colors are faded and muted. Please tell me that you are going to go back to the old paper quality. I cannot buy these cards any more until you do. In the meantime I have 5 boxes of Note cards and the same thing has happened with the Avery post cards which I have 5 boxes of and I need to send back to Amazon. I will be searching for another type of card that will work for me. I have included a sample of what I am talking about. The picture on the left is the old card quality. The picture on the Right is the new card quality. So you can see for yourself which one is better. I cannot tell you how much time, money and paper was wasted in the last 3 months trying to figure this out. Where is your quality control???!!!

New paper source killed the quality

My wife is a professional artist, and I print her custom notecards using the Avery Matte White notecards and a high-end inkjet printer. Up to a year ago, the Avery notecards manufactured in Germany were of superb quality. When Avery switched to a Mexican source, that quality was lost. Colors are muted, the image sharpness is gone, and even the micro-perforations are not as clean as the old ones. I hope you have plans to restore the quality, or I will have to find another source for her card stock.

use to be the best for my photo cards; then they changed where it was made. Germany then went to Mexico where the quality of photo print went to heck. totally washed out. I paid premium price to good quality and then its no better than generic card stock. Hope the figure out whats going on. will not buy any more until its fixed.

Read my other reviews and you'll learn that I've used Avery products for quite some time. I don't know when 8315 Note Cards were added to the Avery product line but I can't recall them being available back in the day when I was still creating my own templates to print Avery labels and such. I mentioned in my review of Avery's 6467 label that templates for it weren't available for the Mac programs I was running at the time (when I first used 6467 labels) but that's all changed. Now there are a number of templates available for Mac usersÛ and that's just the beginning. Avery continues to improve the user experience in ways many newcomers may take for granted, like scoring and perforating, which are built right into this particular note card. Both functions were once performed manually which is to say I had to cut and score cards individually using a craft knife and a metal straightedge. Time is money so when you can, why not save both by using products like this? As to the precision and quality of the cards, from one box to the next, there's no difference. Once you've created the art for your card and have verified it looks as intended on the card, rest assured that every card you print after the original will be identical to it. 8315 Note Cards quickly became a new favorite of mine when I was asked to design and print a note card for my church. Please see the result depicted in the accompanying image.

I love these cards. Each year my kids draw pictures for our Christmas cards. I scan the pictures in print them out on these note cards. They always turn out great. I like the size and that there are 60 in a pack. I can send out 60 personalized one-of-a-kind Christmas cards for a great price!

Poor quality stock from Mexico

My experience matches the other complaints I have read here. The old paper (made in Germany) was excellent, and we used to to make all of our cards with great results. The new paper (made in Mexico) is horrible! The images are flat, dull, and lifeless, and there are white dots where the ink isn't properly absorbed by the paper. I want the old paper back!

I am a painter, and with the use of this product can use my own designs to make cards as gifts for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays....every occasion. A box of Thank You cards makes an excellent gift and these templates and products make it so easy. I am also able to advertise my website on the back of the cards.
