We bought 6 filing cabinets and all of the locks were different. I called customer service to see if we could get matching locks so we could just use 1 key for everything and I was told that Staples doesn't do that. So I had to go through a third party to get new matching locks. The quality of the cabinet is so-so. We have a couple Hirsh and Hon cabinets from years ago and those are built much more sturdy than these Staples cabinets. The metal seems thin and is very easy to dent. The drawers are a little bit janky too. They take a little force to get all the way shut. All in all we will buy more of these again since the price is right and we don't need heavy duty cabinets. If you need something more sturdy and want matching locks go with a little more expensive brand.

Excellent Product

I compared this Staples brand to namebrands for sturdy construction and smoothness of drawer opening. Staples brand won out hands down. I bought it primarily as an upgrade from a file cabinet that would not accept hanging files and was amazed at the how much more smoothly the drawers open. This one can be used with either type file and I am very pleased with this purchase.

File cabinets

Customer service from the manager who was at the customer service desk was very inappropriate -- I only asked for service in the area of the file cabinets and was told in harsh tones that I would have to wait because he had no one who could help me. Employees could be seen however setting up a display and stocking shelves When I told him I wanted to buy several file cabinets he had someone there immediately but only after he determined that I was making a major purchase. I was told the file cabinets I received had been set aside a day or two earlier for a customer that had reserved them but that I could have them. When I expressed reservations about taking someone else's product I was assured that they had not picked them up in a timely manner (less than 2 full days?)and that it was alright to take them. Had I been that customer I would not have been pleased to come in and find them gone after I had reserved them and been assured that they would be held.In all fairness this is not the typical service that I receive at that Staples store and it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving which meant they were probably all tired but that is really no excuse for harsh tones nor put downs of other customers.

Carton arrived in good condition but file base was severely bent and distorted indicating it was dropped. Also hard to open drawers. Need to lift each drawer slightly before opening it.

Flimsy

Filing cabines looks nice from the outside but is very flimsy. The inside is just plain silver metal. Looks like they forgot to finish it. Cabinet itself is exact to the measurements.
