We have purchased many different mechanical pencils over the years (with putting 5 kids through school) and they always tend to break easy, not load properly or just in general break! The kids now do not like to use the Old Fashion" #2 style pencils so we just had to continue to purchase new packages through out the year. The BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencils are very well made. Good writing instrument, not so great eraser

Although I don't require a specific kind of my students, I do personally like mechanical pencils over regular lead pencils. I found that the BIG Velocity writes really well! The lead is strong and durable. I can write legibly and the lead also doesn't run or smear like some lead. However, the eraser does not completely erase my many math errors. I have to still use a personal eraser to clean up my mistakes.

My daughter said that they write really well and have a comfortable grip. She liked how easy they were to flip from writing to erasing. Also that they have the easiest process to get more lead. Meaning that the button is not awkwardly placed out of reach. I think we found our go to mechanical pencil.
