[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've never been one to like or use mechanical pencils. My kids love them but get frustrated for the same reasons I do. I always feel like I have to press hard in order to read what I'm writing. And with mechanical pencils, when you press too hard you snap the lead and then have to stop and get more lead out, erase the mark that you just made when you snapped the lead and then finally start your writing again. It's a mess. So when I was given the chance to try BICÆ VelocityÆ Mechanical Pencils for free, I figured why not?! My kids were excited when the pencils arrived. We opened them immediately and the first thing we thought was that they were pens, not pencils. They seriously look like pens. It wasn't until we were able to press the lead out that we were convinced that these were in fact mechanical pencils and not pens. lol. My kids are 6, 8 and 13. All three of them each picked a pencil based on color and gave it a go. The first thing they agreed on was that how cool it was that these pencils look like pens. Their instant plan was to take them to school the next day and trick their teachers. (It's the little things lol). My 13 year old said he liked how comfortable the pencil was to hold and the other two agreed. They started out by writing their names on paper and as usual 2 of the 3 pressed super hard to the point that I thought the lead would break, but it didn't! I had a pencil as well and told them to write normally like they would if it were a normal #2 pencil. So they wrote again. And this time, without pressing hard, it was still dark just as if there were using a #2 pencil. Amazing! All three kids were impressed with these mechanical pencils and were writing with them on and off throughout the rest of the day. I give this product a 5 out of 5 rating for durability, smoothness, ease of use, comfortable grip and style.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Giving these pencils to my son was a bittersweet moment (for him). On one hand, getting new school supplies is always exciting and fun. On the other hand, getting new school supplies means going BACK to school! He opened them right away and used them on some book reading assignments and loved the range of colors in the pack. I tried them out myself and really enjoyed the comfort of the pencil in my hand and the smoothness of the lead. These don't drag or break easily, they're fun to look at, and they erase without ripping through the papers in a smooth and clean way. They are great pencils all around, and definitely a contender for new favorite.

Especially with the array of 5 bright colors , kids are drawn it the package on the shelves thinking I'm sure that it's some cool color gel pens. Well after trying the Pencils, I'll say that once you get over the I thought it was a pen" moment

Smooth and easy writing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bic Velocity has really stood up to the rest of daily writing and erasing. When writing with the Bic Velocity pencils the lead is strong and doesn't break easily, so the pencils are lasting longer than most mechanical pencils. They are a great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids have been using these at school for the past two weeks and are loving them. I took one to work and have been getting a lot of use out of it myself. The lead holds up better than traditional mechanical pencils which is good because my kids can write hard, breaking traditional and other mechanical pencil lead frequently. The new pencils also don't smear as much either. For a left handed person like myself, that is of huge importance when choosing a writing implement. I usually end up with pen ink or pencil lead all down the side of my hand. The eraser is very functional, but small. With all of the writing and re-writing my kids do, a big eraser is a must. While it is nice that the eraser comes with a cap, my kids lost theirs the first time they removed it, so it wasn't of too much importance to them in the design. Overall, I would highly recommend these pencils for people of all ages looking for a good pencil!
