They give kids the option to use their imagination instead of their electronic devices. They work great. Lead doesn't break easily, and writes nicely and evenly. The erasers also work very well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must admit, I have never been so impressed by a pencil until I used the BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencil. The major pluses are that the grip is comfortable (I can probably write for hours without my hand hurting for once) and the lead never snaps (this happens to me ALL the time). This is such a great writing experience and I might actually shift from writing with pens to mechanical pencils now. Thanks BIC!
