BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using BIC Velocity mechanical pencils for a month, I feel I've gotten a very good idea of their quality and worth. I have used them myself, my children have used them to complete their homeschool assignments, and my students have used them during tutoring. They're very sturdy, with excellent quality lead and fantastic little erasers that erase cleanly. My children and students love picking out which color they want to use. They sell for a reasonable price, so I'm not worried when one goes missing. I've only found one problem with the pencils that has appeared in every single one we've used. The metal base where the lead comes out doesn't stay put. It pushes back up inside the shaft of the pencil when pressure is applied. It appears to be a technical design flaw, but it makes those pencils unusable. I'd love to continue using these pencils when they correct this flaw.

Basic pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were just like any other type of mechanical pencil. There wasn't anything really special about these. They work and write and hold up just like any other brand pencil does. They came in basic colors, rainbow. I looked at them in several different stores and they are just basic color. They could have came in neat exotic colors or patterns. They could have changed the shape where your fingers rest. The best part was the extra erasers and led. You never have enough of that. Come on BIC get creative, add some new color and style. Make a potential buyer love these with new patterns or designs like marble, ty dye, neon colors or houndstooth.

Great pencil, fewer lead breaks!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These mechanical pencils are fantastic. I've used them daily and i don't have near as many lead breaks as I've experienced with other brands. The grip on the pencil is also great and makes for a smooth writing experience. This is now my go to mechanical pencil.

Great pencil - terrible eraser

I have been using these pencils for years. I love the feel of them in my hand - makes it easy on the hands when doing a lot of writing. Love the smooth writing - even like the look of the fun colors they come in. BUT they have the WORST erasers ever!!! They do not erase, they just make a bigger mess than the mistake I am trying to erase. I get so frustrated with them that I have to have a trusty old pink eraser by me or an old fashioned yellow pencil with an eraser to use instead of the BIC eraser. Can you not do better?

Overall good, one thing I found kind of annoying is that once the eraser is small enough, you cant take it out of the holder without having to use a paperclip of some sort.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Broken Lead

I cannot begin to tell you how many times during a homework session with my daughter and her friends that I heard the lead go pop pop. These kids must write with the force of bull in a china shop because while the pencils looked cool, they certainly couldn't hold up to the constant writing they were doing for math problems. I think I'll try the wooden pencils more

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked this pencil a lot. It was very easy to use and it writes with ease. The lead in the pencil is easy to replace. What else can I say if you need a mechanical pencil, this is a great one to have in your pencil case.
