Although I do know that one should 'assume nothing' I did assume that the Staples-brand notebooks would be of lesser quality than the 'brand'-name ones so I ordered both. The Staples notebook has a strong double coil has a thick cardboard backing is made in USA and is almost half the price of the 'brand'-name one! Apparently you can't go wrong with a Staples notebook! Forgive me Staples!
