Leonardo & the Unruled White Index Card
on September 25, 2014

Before the Italian Renaissance index cards were only yellow and they were all ruled. But Leonardo (think 'Mona Lisa' and L'Ultima Cena among many masterpieces) in an off moment between creating the first airplane and designing the dome of the Cathedral in Milan looked at his yellow ruled index card and felt dissatisfaction. What he asked himself was wrong here and what could be done to improve both the aesthetics and the functionality of this common item? ************ Leonardo fell into a deep sleep and in that sleep the Angel of Invention came to him and said 'PSSST! get rid of the lines and make it white!' -- When Leonardo awoke he remembered what the Angel had said and he set to work re-creating the 5 x 8 index card making in a short space of time an index card remarkably like the one we enjoy today. We who use these white unruled 5 x 8 index cards owe thanks not only to Leonardo 'world-renowned genius of the Italian Renaissance ' but to Staples for selling at a manageable price this small work created by a genius during an off moment. Grazie tanto Leonardo and Staples thanks a million.

these cards are excellent for anything that needs memorization. fits and prints in your normal printer. I used them for memorizing math formula. because they were unruled I could print my own flash cards!
Don't understand why the blank ones are more expensive than lines

Sometimes stick together in the printer

They are pretty good for creating post card mailings. I find that every once in a while they stick together and the printer picks up 2 & it jams the printer.
