Perfect for short but detailed responses for my stdents. They love them for flash cards and the lines help with neat definitions.

In my experience all 3 x 5 cards are pretty much alike differing in that some are ruled on one side while some are plain on both sides. These were the former. I can't ever remember getting any that I complained about nor any that were exceptional in any way. As far as I am concerned price is the only discriminant. As to whether it was a gift---I never thought of that! Perhaps next Christmas when choosing something special and unusual... How many people get a wonderful pack of 3 x 5 cards as a gift? It is something I think they would remember all of their life!

Question as to primary use should allow more than one use if that is the answer. I use these cards at work and at home for all sorts of lists and organization.
