Back to school with BIC

When we received these BIC Velocity pencils they were pretty excited to try them out. They LOVE them!! They loved that they wrote smoothly and were comfortable to write with. I loved that they came with extra lead and were free to try from BIC!

BIC has made me rethink mechanical pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These BIC Velocity Pencils are really well made. We are loving the bright and bold colors. They are surprisingly strong in that the lead is thinner than the average #2 pencil, but these leads aren't flimsy/fragile/easily broken. We find that just pushing the top and having out just enough lead to write with is best - no need to push out more lead as it's not necessary and will make the pressure point weaker.
These thinner leads are great for things like precision writing, writing for an extended time or writing within a small space (ex: forms with limited writing space). My middle school-er is really enjoying writing with these mechanical pencils. He is working hard on his cursive writing and says that the BIC Mechanical Pencils "make calligraphy or cursive writing easier as the point of the lead is smaller and it is easier to control the pencil due to the smooth tip. I also like the padding near the lead as it makes the pencil easier to grip. It will be much more comfortable to take notes in class once school begins and I won't have to be bothered by having to use the pencil sharpener." Although my son does say that he wishes there were more "boyish" colors - describing the majority of the mechanical pencils as basically girlish colors. He said he would like to see more basic colors like green, brown, black and grey. He said, "I'm not really feeling the neon colors with their brightness. I'd rather just have basic colors."
I also like the padding at the lead base. This is especially nice as typical #2 pencils that are all round have left me with that indentation/smashed in skin on my finger after using a standard pencil for an extended period of time. That has always been a drag. With the BIC's extra padding, I feel like I am getting more comfort and support on my fingers where I am holding the pencil. I love that these include extra lead too. Very convenient and really makes for us being able to use these mechanical pencils for a long time to come. They look very much like pens, which is a nice bonus. Makes them look more mature and grown up. The lead is very, very smooth. Don't have to use extra force or pressure, these glide nicely on paper. I like that the top has a clip on it - very different from a standard pencil. You can clip these mechanical pencils onto a book page, notebook, pad, etc. - try to do that with a standard pencil! Great for helping to keep up with these pencils and making sure they are handy when you might need to use one. An eraser on top with a clear colored cap rounds out this mechanical pencil as a definite back to school must.

great pencil!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughters are 10 and 12 and use pencils regularly at school. We're always looking for pencils that they 1) don't need to sharpen 2) lead doesn't break easily 3) writes smoothly 4) is comfortable to use.
I'm happy to say that this pencil fits 3 out of our 4 needs! My girls loved the bright colors, the ease of use and the smooth feel of writing. The only small issue they had was with the barrel - they wished that it was just a bit more cushioned. However, it isn't so uncomfortable that they can't use it, so the BIC pencils are packed into their pencil pouches and they are ready for the new school year!

Clean and clear!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these pencils!! They're durable. They actually have the metal tips, instead of the cheap plastic ones. The lead is awesome. The writing actually comes out dark and very clear. It smudges just a little but you actually have to rub on it a little to get that to happen. It erases pretty cleanly and without a ton of mess. The kids love them!

BIC has reintroduced me to the benefits of mechanical pencils

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, if you're like me, you probably haven't thought much about mechanical pencils or even used them much. I used these back in my school days - who even knew they were still trending?! Just grab a regular #2 pencil and do your thing right?! Well, not so much. This BzzCampaign was a great reintroduction into the usefulness and convenience of a BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencil.
First, this pencil is well designed and it looks very much like a typical pen. I've picked it up several times thinking it was a pen! Great pencil for adults to work with as well as children. Gives you a step up in appearance from a typical #2 pencil and it definitely looks more professional. It has a sleek/smooth design that is light years over the hard/wood feel of a typical #2 pencil. The BIC is easy to hold, comfortable to grip and they are pleasing to look at. Anyone can hold a typical #2 pencil...but why not stand out from the crowd and hold a neon bright BIC Mechanical Pencil! My kids and I are loving it. It is very smooth and the lead dispenses out with just a small click from the top - just like a regular pen. My kids love to use pencils - especially in the car and always for doing homework. These pencils are great for even a younger writer as the lead is durable and strong, although it is much thinner than a typical #2 pencil. One of my daughter's is especially interested in using these once school resumes as she loves the bright colors and says that there is often a line at the pencil sharpener - especially during test and class projects. She stated, "these will be much better to use. Everyone will be up sharpening, and I will just sit in my seat and click the top of my BIC to get out more lead." As a mom, I can't tell you how many pencil shavings I've found in the back seat of the car due to pencil sharpeners "mysteriously opening while I'm driving" while the kids are backing there working on something or other. With the BIC Velocity Mechanical Pencil, no more shavings to find and no more kids stating that they need to go sharpen their pencil while we are working on homework and that always seems to lead to a detour past our refrigerator for some snacks!
This is a perfect pencil for kids and adults. Great for precision writing or sustained writing as this is simply a more comfortable pencil to hold. I also like that the eraser is white and it does a great job of erasing away mistakes completely. The clear/white cap on the eraser ensures that it will be clean and ready for the next usage. Totally smooth lead, great colors and all from the trusted BIC brand. I would highly recommend these and I'm happy I rec'd a reintroduction to mechanical pencils - this was definitely something that I needed to know.

My kids love there pencils.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of my kids love to doodle on paper but he's not the best drawler he makes a lot of mistakes and with these pencils the Eraser is very good anyways his mistakes very nicely he likes the Erasers on the pencils very much. My other son loves to write and he tells me that these pencils makes his writing look so much more nicer. They both tell me that they're easy to use.
