I've not put a book in it yet but looks like it would be fine. I got it rather than just a "tablet holder" since I prefer to read my newspaper in a vertical format. Plus it should do all sorts of things--magazines artwork jigsaw puzzle box covers.....

The best I can say is that this product is an adequate paper copy holder but not much more. It is wider than it is tall which I think is a mistake as most paper is 8x11 or 8x14. But my last (vertical) one broke and this is all I found.

I use the book holder to hold my cookbooks while cooking and it works well. The tabs do a great job of securely holding my biggest cookbook open to the recipe page. The online price was $5 less than the in-store price so the store honored the online price which made this a great buy for the money.
