This file cabinet which was on display in the local store (but not stocked) is described as "Commercial Grade." We would NOT consider this cabinet to be a commercial grade item. HOWEVER it IS a nice little file cabinet. We bought this one because it would fit in a closet. It is lighter in weight AND quality (flimsier) than a 26"D 2-drawer file cabinet that we recently purchased on Staples website which was also described as "Commercial Grade " and that one is and we gave that one a 5-star rating last week. The drawers on this cabinet glide smoothly but it still is not the quality of the 26" deep file cabinet we described in the previous sentence. Because this cabinet fits perfectly in the closet where we have it we will keep it but we were disappointed that this one is not the same quality as the other one we described. The lock works fine and the thumb releases for each drawer to open them work fine. We wish that this 22"D cabinet was the same quality as the 26" one but it isn't. This cabinet is obviously made by a different manufacturer when compared side-by-side.

Less sturdy than I hoped

I moved my office to a different room in my house and the closet in the new room was not deep enough for my Hon file cabinet. The Hon filing cabinet was very sturdy with smoothly opening drawers and was very well balanced. I bought this Staples cabinet based on the web description and reviews. It is much lighter than the Hon cabinet. I filled both drawers with files and opened the top drawer--the cabinet tilted forward. I wound up piling books on top of the cabinet to keep it balanced. The drawer mechanism is good but definitely not as heavy duty as I hoped. At this price point I frankly expected a sturdier file cabinet. I would recommend this but only as a middle-quality cabinet for someone stepping up from a basic model without full-suspension drawers. Otherwise the appearance is good the size is correct and Staples had delivered it to my nearby store in perfect condition and on the promised date.

22" 2-Drawer letter size file cabinets

I just started a business and new I needed lots of stuff from Staples my go to store. I reviewed many file cabinets and found the 22" length by 28" height 2 drawer letter size in putty was perfect. The reason being I purchased counter tops from another store and needed the right elevation like a desk at 28" high and the support of a 22" long file cabinet. So the 22"x28" file cabinets provided the right length & height for me. We screwed the counter tops onto two two by fours and it sits perfectly on the 22" file cabinets. The cabinets are deep and sturdy with a lock & key too.

I ordered this cabinet (and a couple of others) and they were ALL delivered the very next day!! You can't beat that for speed. The 2-drawer file cabinet was exactly what we wanted. Quality was good. Thanks!!

Staples Vertical File Cabinet 2-Drawer

The file cabinet arrived bent; however because it was more trouble to send it back I decided to keep it as it was still useable. I wanted it for personal home use and it was not necessary to display it thus the decision to keep it. The mode of delivery of such items should be changed or there should be some guarantee that the item would be delivered in optimum shape. Also in the guarantee should be that the item should be brought inside due to the size and weight of the item and not left on the first of four steps of a one family home. Would such an item have been left outside of a commercial business?
