Disappointed with those Cards

I'm a big user of Index Cards and so are my children. I purchase them all to often. This was the first time I had purchased the Staples Brand Unruled Index Cards. Unfortunately I was not very please with them. The paper thickness was very thin. I have purchased different brands and the thickness of the paper was thicker and easier to use for special projects. I was not happy with this purchase.

A lot of cards for a great bargain

I bought these unruled index cards to use during various activities at a professional development session with teachers. I did not need quite this many cards but this package size was the only option. I will not need to buy any again for a long time. I find the cards thick enough to use as flashcards because writing will not show through to the other side. Unruled cards are also helpful as a teacher because students can use them for various purposes (writing of any size note-taking drawing quiz cards etc.) without being limited or interrupted by lines.

these cards were as expected. not the thickness of the old flashcards that were once the standard but they meet the standard of most current manufacturers. actually it would be great if Staples.com would produce cards that were much thicker. it would be a hot item because many people are looking for it

Indispensable study aid

I'm recently back in school after many years away and I'm finding some of the older "tried and true" methods still work best at least for me. Admittedly this may be a function of both age and familiarity. Neuroscientists tell us that physically writing something creates a more permanent memory than for example typing notes on a laptop or tablet. So while I've tried taking notes on my laptop I've gone back to hand writing in a notebook and have to admit that I think my retention of information is higher using this older method. Similarly I've found that summarizing reading materials to key questions (and answers) helps in my ability to retain information. The art of course is in identifying just what is and he is not essential information. However if successful in doing so it allows for the creation of flashcards for quick and easy review and (again for me) improves retention.
