We have used brand name paper and Staples brand paper. There is absolutely no difference. We use it daily and will continue to purchase this paper.

My daughter in law is a school teacher that is limited to the number of copies she is allowed to make. I buy her this paper so she can make copies without using her paper allotment. This paper is better than what the school system offers.

I use the multipurpose paper for work and it works great. The staples brand is as good as any other that they sell and typically a little more inexpensive. I normally purchase cases of paper from staples and have it delivered but lately I've been going into the store to buy it by the ream. The reason for the in store purchases is they have a great "clearance" section where I often buy other office supplies that I need for my home office. I have been a huge fan of Staples since they moved into our community.
