Does the job

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dispenser works great making it easy to use and very compact to store away when done. The tape is thick and strong. Seals the boxes just right. Also the tape stops from sticking back to roll and having to find the end. No extra cutting tools needed. 3m gave me a free sample of this product to evaluate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Tape Changed - Doesn't Stick Well Anymore

My company has been using this tape exclusively for years - tens of thousands of packages shipped - and loved the small size, ease of use and quality of what this tape USED to be. Over the past few months, the tape changed - it now says "40 times stronger" and feels very different (thinner and slicker), which would be fine except that when the "new" tape is used on standard kraft shipping boxes it doesn't stay stuck!!! Really 3M? What the heck good is shipping tape that comes untaped on its own from shipping boxes??? Extremely disappointed in the changes to this product and that we are going to have to switch to another type of tape.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible dispenser!

The tape itself is great, but the dispenser is impossible to use. I have tried every possible way, and it either won't cut the tape, or the tape goes back and I have to find the start of it again. Really really bad design!

Very disappointed

Scotch, what did you do to your "tape"?! It won't stick to anything, let alone the box I'm trying to seal. I've used your tape in the past without an issue. Should have had a recall. (no receipt though, never thought I'd need to take you up on your guarantee)

One serious problem!

However, it is virtually impossible to re-thread the tape. I just gave up: I rip off what I need and apply it manually. If only instructions were available (sigh!).
That being the case, it's completely useless to me.

Strong and durable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is very strong and sturdy tape. Easy to use and easy to start without having the tape tear while you are trying to use it. It holds on almost any surface. The amount and length could be a little longer but it’s definitely enough. The tear teeth are sharp and make it easy to get any size piece you need.

Best Packaging Tape for Moving

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've moved around and packed so much throughout my life, I've always used Scotch packaging tape. I insist you have the dispenser as it makes the taping of boxes easier and more efficient. I've never had a problem with the tape tearing. As in the name it is heavy duty and strong. If you go with an off-brand the tape will keep breaking and you never get a clean tear leading to wasted time and frustration. I learned the hard way at first. Now I know to stick to Scotch products. I did receive this product free from 3M, however it's all I prefer and recommend using.

NIGHTMARE to get tape off roll

Three ibuprofens and hour later, still struggling to figure out how to release beginning of tape roll so I could start using it. There was no tab to pull on end of tape to get it started. There were no directions on package, either. Finally put roll under bright light and examined. There is an INVISABLE perforation that needs to be broken and tape then released. There was no way to know this on the package.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
