Paint came off with tape.

We used the tape to mask off a sink counter and bathroom vent as well as woodwork that had been varnished around a window. When we removed the tape, it lifted the paint removing chunks of paint down to the drywall. It lifted parts of the polyureathane on the window woodwork. We are still trying to figure out how to repair the damage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we recently had redone our living room. And this tape was the best for different surfaces. We had painted walls, molding, paneling, and a poly floor. And it work awesome in all the right places. Many thanks for this. I always hated rubbing out tape residue or refixing straight lines! Love you guys!

A wonderful "Blue Blessing" ...

I am a messy painter, so I avoid repainting any room in my house. I really needed to refresh the paint in my bathroom and thought I would have to hire it done. One day at the "Big Box" home store I discovered your tape, so I bought it thinking "what have I got to lose". Not only did it live up to it's advertising but it turned me into an, almost, expert painter. I finished my bathroom in record time (and it looks great) and I am going to buy more paint and start on my living room. The simplicity of the tape makes any painting project so much easier. Tape, paint, and peel ... it's that easy. Thank you for such a wonderful product. I am now a "do it yourself" professional, at least when it comes to painting.

This tape was the perfect tool for my project!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Scotch Blue painters tape to create dashed lines on the ceiling of my baby's nursery. The tape was strong and did a great job of protecting the color from bleeding onto the white ceiling background. Even with a textured surface, this tape did an excellent job and I would recommend it to painters and Do-It-Yourselfers out there! Further, I used the tape to help define the corners of the room and to paint a life size tree over the crib. The tape kept my lines straight and clean, with little touchup and a lot of peace of mind.

Do not buy this tape!!!

I recently purchased this tape believing that it was the best tape to use to protect my surfaces from stray paintbrush strokes. I was horrified when I removed the tape to see that it had ripped off the top layer of my cabinets, as well as the ceiling paint! Now I have to repaint the ceiling, minus the tape, so it doesn't rip off the recent paint on the wall! This tape should come with some big warnings!!! I would have been better off free handing it. Very disappointing!

Hi, AirForceWife, thank you for leaving your review and giving us the opportunity to help. The ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape #2093 is designed for use on painted surfaces in which the paint has been allowed to cure for 30 days or more. Once applied, it will remove cleanly from the surface for up to 14 days. For delicate surfaces such as applications involving laminate, we recommend our ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape for Delicate Surfaces #2080, which has a lower level of adhesion. We appreciate being in touch with you directly to help resolve this for you. Thanks.

Not happy with results of new tape

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought the new tape because we were using a dark color on our dining room walls and we wanted to keep it off our trim and molding. we waited over night before trying to remove the tape and like the others, some of the paint next to the trim around the chair rail and trim around windows etc. was peeling in areas and upset that all this will have to be touched up! Another day doing all of this. I am not happy at all. I will not recommend or use this again. We bought 3M thinking of your reputation. Disappointed
We do many projects, more than most people

Response from scotchblue.comBy ScotchBlue™ Brand TeamNovember 20, 2012
We are sorry to hear of the paint pull upon removal of the tape. Sometimes the high end paints when using multiple coats create a film formation coating over the tape so at removal the paint does not leave a clean paint line and instead removes with the tape. Unfortunately the only real way to avoid this is scoring with a blade or removing the tape when the paint is still wet. We do offer 3 versions of our ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape in order to provide the best tape for the application. Please see our surface selection guide at www.scotchblue.com. We would ask you contact us directly if there is even an inquiry, quality concern, or damage with any of our products. Please expect a direct e-mail from us shortly.
