Disappointed
on March 26, 2013

I painted strips in my room. I was using a competitors product, but ran out and sent my husband to the store. He came home with scotch blue. It claimed to have the edge lock and wouldn't bleed. That was not the case, it bled along the entire edge. I had to spend hours touching up by hand. I had no bleeding with the competitors. It was in fact a side by side comparison and I was very disappointed. I have wasted my time and money with this product and its false claims of edge lock technology.

Twice the price for low quality paper in the tape but glue does give edgelock
on February 7, 2012

I have used Scotch products from the early 70's as they were the best for painting a car. I was aware of the short tape life with the standard yellow tape and never left it on for more than a couple of days.
I started using the blue tape while painting my house. It solved the tape life problem but didn't have the grip of the yellow.
Now, 3M has the "Edge-Lock Blue" and at twice the price but didn't use a high quality paper for the tape. Why? The edge-lock works very well but the product quality is poor because the paper is so weak. It tears as it is being pulled off the roll or worse yet, when removing it after painting.
Because the tape tears so easily, it take hours to remove and all the benefit is lost just because of a very low quality paper. Please note I have used about a dozen rolls of edge-lock tape and some rolls (the one I'm using now) cannot even be removed from the roll in one continuous length (this forced a review).
My disappointment is with a brand I used to trust as the best.

Thank you for taking the time to give a Rating & Review to our ScotchBlue(TM) Painter's Tape for Advanced Surfaces 2093. We would not expect any of our tapes to sliver or tear off the roll or off the surface it has been applied to. If this occurs we would ask you contact us directly at www.scotchblue.com or at 800-537-9514 M-F 7:00 am to 6:00 pm CST so we can further assist. We would also like to recommend looking into our Automotive Tapes we have available. Over the last several years many tapes have been added to the line-up to allow longer application time and the ability to paint fine lines or even pinstripes. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our product! You can also expect an email from us shortly to follow up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After painting interior of our home discovered tape helped paint not going where it wasn't intended to be. Was well worth the time to tape prior to painting. Used a sprayer & once started painting, went fast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whenever we need to do a paint project the first thing we grab is ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape. We really like using the Advanced Multi-Surface with Edge-Lock 2093EL when painting and protecting baseboards and crown moulding. We love the crisp edge we get when we remove the tape. If you want to protect your prized mouldings I highly suggest using ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape.

I recently painted my daughters play room and wanted to add a section of chalk board paint. I am a professional painter and was skeptial and was right to be. The old fashion way I get great lines with regular blue tape would have worked much better. Now I have the task trying to straighten out the bleed through.

What exactly does the tape "lock" out? Cuz it's clearly not paint!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this tape to tape around our crown molding and trim, and could not have been more disappointed when we pulled it off. We used your average latex paint and primer in one, and it had bled under the edges and our room looks TERRIBLE. It looks like we will now need to repaint all of our crown molding and trim and repaint all of our edges. Something we had not planned to do.. now there will be a whole lot of extra time and money we have to spend because of the failure of this product.
