I bought these for moving specifically for books and files. They were cheaply priced so I wasn't even sure whether I'd end up using them or else I expected them to get beat up in the move. I ended up using all of them for packing all kinds of items and now I'm keeping many of them on the shelves for storage.
These boxes are an old standby at our house--they are compact store and stack easily and generally are pretty durable and sturdy (except when they get wet). We use them for anything from actual filing to catch-all boxes that hold anything and everything. I discovered a while back that these make excellent (but expensive) moving boxes--you can stuff them with rocks and they're still compact enough and light enough to be moved by someone who isn't a professional bodybuilder or mover! We frequently store books in them for easy moving and relocation throughout the house and the country! They will show a little wear after a while and they sometimes get squished (especially the lids) which renders them useless particularly when the lids won't go on anymore!
the boxes are excelent value i am using this order for moving but i have also used them for file storage and for xmass hornament storage and storage in general
File boxes are fairly standard. Another pro of Staples's model is the lid is inside the box rather than attached by a perforated line and does not have to be separated from the rest of the box to build. One con of Staples' brand is that the perforations for separating the inner sides for unfolding are incomplete and you need to score them with a good strong thumbnail at best or a knife or other edge/point at worst otherwise the face of the cardboard will tear from the corrugations at some point in the process of breaking the perforation. This scoring costs time and energy (and worn nails). This would be easy to improve by increasing the number of perforations points.
