I filled the tote with files which I expected the tote to be able to carry. While carrying the tote the handle popped off. It can be re-attached but having come off once while carrying I know I cannot rely on it.

I purchased this yesterday and planned to load it today. Before I placed anything inside the latch popped off immediately and the lid came off too. Fortunately both were easy to place back into position. But I have no confidence in this product and plan on returning.

You couldn't make it weigh any less and still have it functional. That said it will do the job... but I wouldn't expect it to endure many travails... like a lot of in and out of the car.
