I've come to use this size for everything. What I've been impressed with is that if you keep them in the original bag with the zipper closed they don't dry out or get stiff like cheap rubber bands treated carelessly. The last one in my old bag was fine after 10 years. I think keeping them away from air matters not that I vacuum seal them or anything.
