Mixed results

I'm repainting all the rooms in my house. The tape worked well on my wood molding. I got mixed results when I used it on paint. When I removed the tape from a freshly painted flat ceiling paint everything went fine (paint cured about a week; tape stayed on about 1 week). But when I put the tape on eggshell wall paint the paint came off in 20+ spots. This was a small coat closet. (Paint cured about 3 weeks; tape stayed on about 18 hours. I painted the walls before I did the ceiling.) The tape that pulled off the paint was from a different roll; hopefully this was a fluke. I bought a 3 pack and still have 6 rooms to tape and paint.

Disappointed in product

I painted my walls 1 week ago. Today I applied scotch blue painter's tape for multi-surfaces around the trim so as not to get the trim color on the walls. When I removed the painter's tape, specks of the wall paint came off also. Now I'm going to have to touch up the walls.

We’re sorry to hear you had trouble with your application! We do recommend that when using our ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape Advanced Delicate Surface with Edge-Lock™ to always test when you have a light texture to the wall. It works best on smooth textures and is not recommended for heavy textures. Remember also to wait 24 hours before using on any freshly painted surface. We’d appreciate the chance to learn more – please call us at your convenience at 1- 800-494-3552 Monday – Friday, 7am to 7pm CST. Thank you!

We're renovating our entire house and doing a lot of painting. I used your tape to mask off all of the trim I had painted with excellent results. It save me a lot of time and gave me nice clean crisp edges.

Not Just for painters

Quilters love this tape. We use several layers to mark seam lines on our machines, it will not harm our paint or decals. Many other uses that include marking fabric or blocks, we can write our information on it and then remove when finished. Strips of tape can be used to stitch a grid pattern on our quilts. We just place tape on fabric and sew close to edge, remove and reposition and sew next line. The only problem I have is not enought different widths. 1/4", 1/2" would be great!

I love your painter's tape! Over the years, this has been the first thing I pick up before starting a project. I keep several rolls around the house for other projects. I've used it to temporarily secure several pictures into a collage frame, hold a recipe to the cabinet door as I am cooking, hold a table cloth in place. My most favorite use of all: I have broken my toes so many times. The first time it happened, the doctor said the only thing we can do is tape them up to keep them secure. Now, when I run into a piece of furniture with bare feet and I hear that *snap*, I reach for my painter's tape and wrap up my toes. It is better than any medical tape and easier (and less painful) to remove. LOVE IT!!

Unexpected precision for my hard-edge abstract paintings

As a fine arts painter, with and M.F.A. in Drawing and Painting, I have explored a number of materials and techniques to express my relatively technical paintings. The 2090 was easily applied and trimmed, allowed for several overlays used in more complex designs, and easily removed with crisp edges everywhere, as desired. I wish I had found this tape years ago. I look forward to many hours of stress-free designing and painting with the 2090 tape. Thank you!
PS: I'll send several images of my paintings in the next day or so. Please save this review if at all possible to join with my forthcoming images. I'm responding to this activity at midnight and wasn't ready to share my work with the review. Sorry.

I taped the bathroom before painting and when took in down it tore the new paint off and the existing ceiling paint. I get to redo the entire trim tomorrow because of this...but with different tape! Will never buy 3m tape again.
