I have purchased more that a few file cabinets like this over the last few years and because of price not at Staples. When I saw this on sale I grabbed the only two they had. This was a one time special purchase from Staples. I wish they would offer this price point everyday.
This file cabinet was on sale for only $29.99 and I had an $8 credit for recycling ink cartridges so although I would have preferred a black file cabinet this dark gray cabinet was a decent choice. It isn't heavy duty but for my purposes at home it works fine. The drawers glide smoothly the sides of the drawers accommodate hanging folders and it has a lock and key although I have no reason to use them. The only hitch was that it was a bit difficult to attach the drawer pull handles but eventually I managed to do it.
Bought a few of these to sit under a countertop in an office. Actually had them painted to match other items of furniture. Could not have asked for a better result! Note; these are not ultra-sturdy or reinforced for industrial applications but are perfectly adequate under normal office situations and you could not beat the price.
My file cabinet arrived at my door within days after ordering. I immediately unpackaged it to find that it was in excellent condition. The only assembly required was screwing the handles on the drawers which was very easy. The cabinet fit into the space near my desk perfectly. The drawers open and close smoothly and the two keys which came with it work great with no problem. I know I will be satisfied and happy with my cabinet for years to come. The whole process of ordering on line from Staples was very favorable.
I bought two of these file cabinets at once; upon opening them up I was quite disappointed in their quality. I did not bang or drop or hit the filing cabinet at all and as I was screwing on the handle and attempted to close the drawer it was sticking; after much looking and wondering why it was not closing I finally lifted the cabinet only to find that a rim had bent upwards and as a result the drawer would not close as it should! I was able to take my thumb and bend the rim back down and voila the drawer closed. So I'm a little disappointed.
