We usually buy the plain tape but thought for MORE reinforcement we could get the tape with the strings. It was NOT worth it. The tape is 3" but wouldn't come off the roll that way. It would come off in 1" 3" whatever.... Never came off the roll in a 3" piece. Took it back without any problems and went back to the plain plastic tape.

I use this tape all the time and I ship small packages with heavy tools and not once has a box opened. I especially like this wide width because it cover a wider area and thus use less than the 1" size.
