We have used these at my workplace for years and overall have had a successful experience.
If the directions are followed closely for installation (30 seconds applied pressure and no weight bearing for an hour) they have held up really well.
For removal, I've found that you need to slowly pull the tab diagonally to the side of the base plate for clean removal without damaging the wall.
There have only been a few times where the wall has been damaged upon removal and these have usually been when an item has been hung for many years and the foam removal tab has deterioated.

Decade of Loving these, hate the new backing

I love command strips and they always work for me. I’ve been using them for a decade bc I change my decor around a lot and they allow me to do that without marking up my walls. I’ve never had an issue with them removing paint from the walls. Sometimes I have reinforced the part that I attach to the frames with super glue, but that’s only bc the frame material on vintage frames can’t be prepped with rubbing alcohol like the walls can be. I am removing one star bc I hate the new back liner and I don’t understand why they would change it. Why would you get rid of your branding and easy peel in exchange for clear plastic that is difficult to see and not as easy to remove? I really hope it gets changed back to the original.
